It's not that rhetoric isn't useful. It's that not only is there an absence of a plan to combat what we're seeing, but on top of that, the rhetoric from many Democratic lawmakers feels detached. The messaging is ludicrously subdued. Unhelpfully formal. There is a massive failure in reading the room.

I called my rep (VT) but the person who answered was confused, saying she had already voted against it. Had no knowledge it would come to another vote.
