Seems unfair when one looks at the overall projected debt and carrying charges. Looks like even those who think they will be ahead will have higher property taxes.

Just part way through the book. Needs to be read carefully and slowly to really appreciate all he says. Very profound.

It seems some things get announced multiple times by the UCP. Building actual facilities—not so much. We will learn how little extra dollars exist for schools or other things if the UCP actually puts forward a budget.

Thanks for keeping AHS irregularities re contracting in Globe and in social media. The more people recognize that this is inappropriate the better.

It is such a great book. The Banff Book Weekend Discussion (book club) will talk about it in May, amongst other selections.

Seems Canadians and Canadian provinces also stepping up to the plate to help out. Unfortunately there have been a lot of lessons learned re fighting fires in Canada. Hoping there are effective solutions.

Do a google search on Public Lending Right and Canada Council for Arts. It has been in place since late 70’s. As a federal program, it has the advantage that it isn’t handled by individual libraries, library consortia, or provinces.

Wonderful podcast. Thank you Lisa Young for your insights into politics in Ab and elsewhere. So lucky to have you at University of Calgary.

It is pretty impressive that authors get a small amount for books taken out of public libraries in Canada. Also the transport between small rural libraries in much of Canada makes borrowing incredibly easy.

I went to Villages Calgary and bought chocolates by a favourite chocolatier—Peace by Chocolate. I will think of the family and people in Syria as I enjoy the chocolates.

This is an amazing and well researched book. Thank you for pulling together the many ways our data can be used and manipulated. I hope you are invited to Calgary’s Wordfest—I would love to hear you present.

Kathleen, just do your best and keep on pushing back against the UCP. But do take care of yourself and make sure you do what you need to do to support your health and wellbeing.
