Jeff Bezos was leaving a large event hall rushing down stairs as I was going up, and he said I should hurry because the crowd was coming. Event just got out.

Buying this lot, bulldozing the house, and replacing it with an 8 unit stacked flat of larger units (1,200SF) would cost $950,000 each and triple the property tax revenue Or we can leave this 1,000SF run down house there and sell it for $2,880,000 and miss out

The incredible variety and availability of fresh produce, far beyond your ancestors’ wildest dreams, is brought to you by…immigrants!

The Doge cuts bill, Rep Randall (WA’s 6th CD) didn’t bother to show. Vote passed by 2 with 4 Dems not voting. Anyone know if she has a good excuse?

One thing I like about the abundance mindset is that if you want to 10x per capita energy usage (you should, the last 10x-ing made humans a LOT better off), there’s literally no possible way to do it with anything other than solar.

NIMBY CM will do anything but allow more housing. I wonder if this has anything to do with the high rents. 🤔🤔🤔

The plumbing and electrical codes are loaded down with so much garbage, in my (limited) experience.

Once when I was young, Seattle had 90 consecutive days of rain. Overcast the whole time. I don’t want to hear it.

The people who get harmed when a city constrains market rate housing construction are the lowest income earners that live in market rate housing; they get squeezed out first. In Seattle, that’s ~90% of the population, so it’s lower middle class families that get most harmed.

Both happened and the far right won.

This is terrorism. This is brownshirt behavior. This is patently unconstitutional. Basta!

The Confederates were traitors and should be treated as such. You do not, under any circumstances, gotta hand it to them.

Yeah, the vibe is not good here, I’m sorry. It’s not good anywhere right now, so part of it is *gestures at world*, but BS is very rigid and hostile. It’s a bummer.

I think abundance is important because so many government agencies are captured by boomers who are simply incapable of imagining a better world (in this case, operating a frequent regional rail network). And this is in Canada! It’s not just an American issue.

This seems really bad. What do we think is going on here?

Remember this guy? “Good” times…

Bloomberg isn’t a moron and also has experience running the city, so this likely says more about how much he hates the other options.

We need AVs yesterday.

This but actually.

There’s a reason ICE is raiding hotels in a blue city and not ag facilities in South Dakota.

In 1960, a typical person might do 20 mental math calcs/day. Today, they still do, but then their computing hardware does another 100,000,000,000 on their behalf so we can have cool stuff like pretend physical sliders.

LIKE I SAID

Watching the right now oppose the part of the second amendment that guarantees a well regulated militia under state control is… something.

Eric Adams. Sucks but it’s better than Cuomo.

I was skeptical of Waymo et al because I thought it was vaporware designed to undermine support for public transit and urbanism. Then I actually rode in the cars, looked at the data, and realized they’re safer than human drivers. Now it’s obvious that the opposition is just anti-tech culture war.
