Huge thanks to my co-authors - Ryan Hughes, Kaloyan Mitev, @lwhitmarsh.bsky.social, @christinademski.bsky.social, Nick Nash, Tris Papakonstantinou, & Mark Wilson β€” a dream team of qual, quant, & ML expertise. Thanks also to AAPS CDT- without whom Ryan and I would never have begun this project! πŸš€

Even as a preprint, DECOTA drew significant interest from policymakers for its potential to: β€’ Provide rapid insights in time-sensitive situations β€’ Scale analysis to huge datasets that could not be analysed manually β€’ Support more interpretative qual work πŸ’

We tested DECOTA on 4 human-coded datasets. It identified: β€’ 92% of all human-coded sub-themes β€’ 90% of main themes …in just 10 minutes and $0.82 per dataset πŸš€

DECOTA uses fine-tuned LLMs to analyse open-ended text data - with no human input needed. It’s a transparent 6 step process, that outputs: - Themes & sub-themes in the data - Their prevalence - How they vary by demographic group - Example quotes

Hey Yara! These are really cool findings & love the look of your work. I'm at Bath Uni just finishing my PhD & have used LLMs in context of understanding climate policy support. Your application looks v interesting & would love to chat sometime!

This looks so useful - thank you Charlotte! I definitely found it tricky at first to find good resources on open science, so this is invaluable :)

Great to see you on BBC Aaron! Totally agree there's a lot more adaptation that could be done. The floods are terrible but hopefully will encourage some action!

Hello! Please could I be added? A lot of my work is around public support for Clean Air Zones :) Thank you!
comment in response to post
Hi Emilio! I'd love to be added to this if possible - some of my work develops & validats novel NLP methodologies using LLMs. Thank you! :)

Hey Meredith! Please can I be added to this? I'm a psychologist studying public support for climate policies :) Thank you!

Hello - thanks for making this! I research public support for climate policies at Uni of Bath & CAST Centre - would love to be added to this starter pack if possible :)

Hi Marcus - hope you & the CCC team are doing well! Wondering if you can please add me to this starter pack too? My research is still around public support for climate policies in the UK :)
