"This spirited, astonishing, bewildering collection is one of the best long poems I have read, transformatory, guilt-making, tough in surmise and Gothic splendours of the imagination..." Adam Piette reviews 'Eely' by Steve Ely: blackboxmanifold.sites.sheffield.ac.uk/adampiettebm33

Our open call submissions window runs from 3 March to 10 March inclusive. Entry guidelines and specifications here: intergraphia.cargo.site/News

Visionary, urgent… truly extraordinary blendings of environmental & social history. - Mark Wormald This spirited, astonishing, bewildering collection is one of the best long poems I have read. - Adam Piette One of 2024's wildest volumes of poetry. - Christian Bok longbarrowpress.com/current-publ...

I call you grandson, and you look and in that look, you become my grandson. Like this, like light returning from one mirror to another, we create each other. 'The Blue Hour' Angelina D'Roza Out now from Longbarrow Press longbarrowpress.com/current-publ...

Word.

I love all my gorgeous volumes of poetry from Longbarrow but The Blue Hour is possibly my favourite. Angelina D'Roza's words are sublime.

Today is both international Colour Day and World Poetry Day. To mark this auspicious occasion, here’s a reminder of The Rose of Temperaments, my 2016 collaboration with @longbarrowpress.bsky.social and 6 brilliant poets. #colour #poetry #internationalcolourday #worldpoetryday poetryandcolour.com

‘bolts of shot silk shiver silver’ very much enjoying the new collection from @jrcarpenter.bsky.social from Shearsman Books

Manifold, printing & binding…

I was about to post that I have all of these stunning books on my shelf and they give me such joy. But then I looked closer. How did I miss Eely? I need that book!

Eight sales this month. Grim.

I wrote Cazique in the voice of a conman. Long after @longbarrowpress.bsky.social published it, I still had his voice in my head. The voice grew into voices. Now I hear those voices in rolling news. In parliament. In advertising. In briefings. I live in Conopolis. matthewcleggcazique.wordpress.com

I love these poems, not least because I had long been fascinated and appalled by the Poyais scheme that inspired them. The ghosts of Gregor MacGregor are indeed all around us now.

I am just gonna keep putting this in the ether from my antidisciplinary humanist POV: with the way things are going, we are going to need more autonomous research networks that create spaces of possibility that are no longer possible––if they were ever even possible––in traditional institutions.

"I grew up working class. I don't have an industry background or institutional connections. I felt, and still feel, that Longbarrow Press should make its own space. I felt, and still feel, that publishing is both an end in itself (i.e. has intrinsic value) and the start of a conversation."

Born in the Garden, died in the Flames, Cain’s spree-kill, carbon-offset Endtime. Ninety million years of life, two hundred years of death, coming down every year to a single fear: will this be the spring that none return? 'Eely' Steve Ely Out now longbarrowpress.com/current-publ...

Lovely poem…

I wrote in the voice of a conman in my last book. Few people bought it. Meanwhile, the realworld conmen continued to do just fine, & are doing even better right now... matthewcleggcazique.wordpress.com/essays/the-o...
