"We're all so much alike... and yet we're all so different! I find myself rejoicing at the endless variety of human beings, and that's partly, I know, because your differences from one another tell me that it's alright for me to be different in many ways, too." - Fred Rogers 🧵 1/2

ARE. ARE, YOU DUMBASS.

This is 100% correct So many of us live for that big rush of player excitement, and even if we don't, our teammates do, so everything will get shared around It may end up in a community manager's report that gets emailed to all by the CEO or something, that's definitely a thing too

Today, in a meeting at the White House, the only person actually defending American interests was Zelenskyy. Let that sink in.

Between being the emotional co-regulator (aka Community Manager) for a community with kids old enough to know shit’s on fire but not old enough for direct action, and you know, shit being on fire, my downtime has found me on SDV again, now with Good Place vibes. Where the fuck did February go?

Another thing I will say is that when it comes to emergent mass action, conveners do not own the movement. Sometimes a call comes from an obscure, odd place and transforms as it captures popular imagination. Ad Busters called for Occupy, for example. But they did not own it or organize it.

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

If you don’t think you can get on board with an action and there aren’t clear and present safety/security concerns, fine. But don’t stand in the way. Don’t dissuade people from organizing because you personally don’t think it’ll work. That doesn’t help our collective cause and goals.

New York/NJ, it's time to get ready. There's a 1000 bed concentration camp coming to Newark. www.thecity.nyc/2025/02/27/i...

Exactly. Trans ppl are considered a “safe“ target, now that nearly 10% of the population identifies as queer, meaning just about everybody knows a gay person and is less vulnerable to propaganda about them. Trans people, on the other hand, are maybe 1 or 2% of the US population.

Don't buy anything tomorrow if you can possibly help it

I was privileged to know Gene Hackman because he played tennis with another Gene—Gene Wilder. And that Gene told him about a little role called The Blind Hermit in our movie YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN…

I suddenly have a mighty need to replay Might & Magic: Mandate of Heaven, For Blood and Honor, and Day of the Destroyer.

Apex Legend's French VAs all refused to come back and provide their voices for A.I. training to replace them. www.reddit.com/r/Games/s/1F... I cannot begin to express how truly and deeply I want these anti-human, scum fuck, corporate ghouls to lose their jobs. *Minimum.*

Thank you Minneapolis city council for hearing us this time The PEOPLE still stand! đź’› www.startribune.com/george-floyd...

This man is a fucking disgrace to the United States and to every Senator who voted to confirm him. He’s irredeemable and should never have been confirmed. It is never “normal” for a school-aged child to die. His callousness is DISGUSTING.

This news truly breaks my heart. We are calling on HHS to take immediate action. Secretary Kennedy needs to bring back weekly measles tracking from the CDC, rehire the health experts, and roll out a serious vaccine campaign. Our kids' safety is on the line! abcnews.go.com/Health/1st-m...

These stories amount to "the left was so annoying about pronouns or liberals made people feel so guilty about plastic straws they had no choice but to get on board with the second coming of the Third Reich and the destruction of the planet."

Who could've guessed?? Turns out that CEOs saying "AI is a tremendous opportunity" really did mean "we'll hold on to the IP just in case that works out, let's get rid of those pesky humans tho"? Whoa

I'm so proud of our community & especially the Community Visioning Council & our consistency that continues to confound the powers that be.

Something's gotta give. Something's gotta change. The state of the gaming industry and the create industries as a whole is unsustainable. People don't deserve to have their lives uprooted on a whim, their hard work and passion either wasted or stolen and fed into slop machines.

everyone seeing how when you takeaway the DEI the planes start falling out of the sky

And the social aspect of Substack is almost certainly overrated! The reason people’s newsletters grow is because other authors mention them and link to them. That has *nothing* to do with the platform! Other platforms (Ghost, Beehiiv, Wordpress, Buttondown, Medium) have better economics, too.

This is serious. PLEASE vaccinate your kids. Measles is NOT a “normal childhood illness” and people telling you it is are either 1) lying or 2) uninformed because they are too young to remember dire complications from vaccine-preventable illnesses. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/26/u...

In Texas, said one doctor: “We’ve vaccinated multiple kids that have never been vaccinated before, some from families that didn’t believe in vaccines.” @nbcnews.com #measles www.nbcnews.com/health/healt...

Shout out to whoever painted “smash fascism” along the Schuylkill retaining wall. May both sides of your pillow be cold.

Listen, I'm loathe to defend Dems these days, but actually I do think it matters that the GOP is forcing disabled folks and immediate postpartum moms to run across the country to deal with this dishonest bullshit

There are lots of affordable options on the site for you to treat yourself, so please don't look at the pictures and go "dear gods it is too lovely I would never be able to". I mean yes, it is (too) lovely but no, you can find something affordable. There are sneaky treasures.

The great @rexhuppke.bsky.social with some truth-telling about Trump selling out his voters now that he doesn't need them anymore www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...

Today, fellow elected officials and I confronted University of Pennsylvania leadership about their cowardly decision to scrub DEI programs. I reminded Penn that Presidential Administrations come and go. When Trump is gone, our community will still be here. We will not forget that Penn abandoned us.

Institutional knowledge wiped out. And no one's going to want to pay them what they're worth, at least not in bulk. This generation of layoffs will cause permanent pivots away from gamedev.

This creep is attacking AP as un-American over the "Gulf of America" while ignoring a police request for an arrest warrant for a Republican congressman who appears to have assaulted his mistress.

lol, and then when they're corrected, they demand you crack the books like you're on Bar Rescue and walk them through expenses like you're being audited. Bitch, you didn't even back the project???

A judge has ruled that Philly Quakers are among the religious groups whose houses of worship are now off-limits to ICE agents. Maryland District Judge Theodore Chuang said in a memo that allowing for warrantless operations in places of worship “lacks meaningful limitations or safeguards.”

Make The Cuyahoga River Flammable Again

So, instead of simply pointing out our trauma, what can the rest of the world learn from it? What did we do? Because while some of us were driven out, many, many of us stayed. We formed protective circles. Both industry wide and within companies.
