Participated in @riverkeeper.org’s annual #Riverkeepersweep yesterday! Our group removed over 40lbs of trash from ~300’ of the Bushwick Inlet. Scrounging for “treasures” under rocks was satisfying, esp. when wedged pieces required some gumption and brawn 😂 Great group of folks. Good haul 🦾 #nature

Alexis @blackforager.bsky.social taught me that magnolia petals are edible and taste like ginger (some cultivars may taste like soap, like how cilantro does to some folks). I began munching on the petals of my neighborhood and learned that the gorgeous magnolia tree I admire daily is indeed zingy!
