Authors, if you see this, it’s a sign to post the first line of your book. “I feel my need fracture like innocence, and ask myself, what now?” Nagaraja, WIP, contemporary novel of a young gay man who comes to believe he is turning into a monster. Is that enough to save him?

Kai has been promoted. His morning consisted of an important zoomie, and now he’s focused on meeting his nap KPI goals

Out for a hike along the Swan (and actually saw a family of black swans — two parents and four adolescents.) Starting prep for doing another section of the Bibbulmun in April!

Sunset and the Milky Way at the Pinnacles. Weird and alien

I tend toward a “whimsical” approach to punctuation :D

#Greyhound check-in! Kai just surveying his domain.

I wrote a column about why anyone who says they’re not voting because Kamala Harris sucks need to suck it up and vote anyway. This contains fighting words, but it’s also one of the most sincere things I’ve ever written. I want folks to come together as a “civics Voltron” and fight evil together.

Not too bad! After the invite debacle.

I’m doing my part 🏳️‍⚧️🫡

You’re not allowed to go on with your day without showing off your lock screen (yes you are, my name may be Paul, but I'm not the Lisan al Gaib)

1st year of marriage! Went to the beautiful Wildflower restaurant, where the menu is based on Indigenous Australian seasons and ingredients. The smokey, bush fire-like whiskey cocktail was incredible, along with the marron toast. Best night, and best year ever!

… I mean, I was then looking up “Curative Kink” for a Crim student later in the afternoon… so maybe it’s my school?!

A whole class of musicians now knows me as Dr BDSM… it’s not what it sounds like! We were discussing referencing general knowledge, and I said if someone of your general level should know it, you’re covered. Then I recounted having to define BDSM for my thesis. It’s innocent if you think about it

A request for dog people: please muzzle your dogs. My poor greyhound was attacked this week by an off leash, un-muzzled dog. He’s recovering well now, but amputation was an option for a few days there. Look after your dogs

Completed a week stretch of the Bibbulmun Track. Great trek… but 30+ km days may not be for me! Sworn off hiking for another year ;P

Another lovely hike. Stacey’s Loop, 12km. Started a little too early under the full moon

Waiting to see the beau’s jazz/pop show “Cabaret Roulette” at Lyrics Lane. Woo!

“How High We Go in the Dark” OH WOW! What a beautiful, melancholy book. Can’t thank @sequoian.bsky.social enough for a way to read through loss toward hope. Rollercoasters should not be so sad.

Well, that was a weird dream! Classic, “All your teeth are falling out,” except the “teeth” were flakes of keratin, delaminating from my teeth. Who knows what that one’s about?

… and back to the dog! #greyhound #cuddles

Why not? The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs (ok... perfect? Not every song. But as a gestalt concept album? Sublime) Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea Nick Cave - No More Shall We Part Radiohead - Kid A Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes

FINALLY got round to watching the New Mutants! Fun psych-horror where the final fight meant something. Shame there won’t be any more of this (excepting the need to re-cast Bobby!) #X-Men baby!

Realized I have to get smelly-er for my WIP. Have to write in more smells and textures. That’ll be fun (weird) #amwriting

An interesting aside to AI only being trained on lawfully obtained works, is that it is not strictly illegal to read a text, only to steal it. So the creators may have broken the law, but the machine is innocent (in as far as AI has guilt)

Aww! I’ve come down with tonsillitis and have to cancel my library class with the music theater students :/ they always give me applause! It’s good for my self-esteem. Being a librarian with performing arts students is weird
