What should I read next?

Just finished The Urth of the New Sun which isn't as gripping as the original 4 books. There's some cool encounters on Severian's initial space journey and engaging appearances from beloved characters.Ultimately I found it a bit jumbled.Still worth a read but I wish the series ended more cohesively.

The jumping sections in Doom Eternal are indeed complete horseshit.

Thinking about these guys

Continuing my journey through Gene Wolf's Book of the New Sun series (books 3 & 4), I especially cherished my experience with The Sword of the Lictor. With all of its strange creatures, personalities, environments and the final confrontation with Baldanders and Dr Talos, this book is exceptional.

I read E.T.A. Hoffmann's "The Mines of Falun" last night and really got caught up in his accessible style. He does such a great job mixing in human emotion with the supernatural and despite the lack of action, the manner in which the story is told is very compelling. I'm eager to read more.

I tried reading Gene Wolfe's Shadow & Claw 20 years ago and couldn't get into it, but recently gave it another go and was totally blown away. The eruptions of sci-fi elements within a predominantly dark fantasy story, coupled with periodic psychedelic passages, really appeal to me.

A rare map of the Technate of America drawn by the Technocracy, Inc., 1940 (or the Technocracy movement), which Elon Musk's Canadian maternal grandfather was a member of until he was arrested when the organisation was proscribed in 1943.

When do you even hear Democrats mention FDR in a positive light? It seems like they prefer to pretend as though he never existed, but the foundation of government programs he erected (which is quickly crumbling) is the only reason they're able to still get votes.

I've always had a soft spot for Laserblast (1978). I especially love the stop motion animated aliens.
