Did not know about its earlier origins! Whether its music or language, the term "stolen" really seems accurate when one group can co-opt the meaning of something and maliciously twist it into something "bad." To see it used so generally now (conveniently without clarifying what they mean) is wrong.

The term was stolen from African-American vernacular, but people who seem to use it most now are clearly mocking it. A positive concept (being aware of social issues) is now used so condescendingly it's a generic replacement for "something liberal I don't like."
