Had a fun hour this morning choosing new specs frames. The brilliant assistant had the perfect "yes those are very fashionable frames but gurl, you ain't fashionable so step away" look. Had to settle for style no.2 as our joint favourite didn't work from a technical angle. He'll get good feedback.

Transgender footballers really had it coming, after all the millions in big brand sponsorships they made despite their acts of rape, domestic violence, tax evasion... oh wait that's countless cis male football players who face no bans, no sanctions, no orchestrated hate campaign to ruin their lives.

Funky Enter Sandman or go home

To balance out the neighbour's labrador thinking he's a German shepherd, Elsie is getting I touch with her inner labrador.

No transphobe has ever been able to explain to me why a man would pretend to be a woman in order to abuse and harass women in women-only spaces when cis men abuse & harasses us in the street, in our workplaces, in our homes and literally everywhere else without consequence

First steaming for Victoria this year. At this point running on wood, an old pair of trousers and a wool blanket the rats had got to over the winter. #steam #tractionengine #recycling

Came across this elsewhere and love it

We've make it easy for delivery drivers. On the gate post we have the house name, dogs running loose, a picture of a German Shepherd and a sign saying do not enter, parcels in the box. And yet.... Instead of a pic of that today's "crapped herself" as Elsie ran at her cos she needed a pic of the door

Happy Miss Congeniality Day to all who celebrate!

Been down the bottom of the garden absorbed in a repetitive but rewarding border tidy with brain in free fall. Heard the gate latch, looked up, the window cleaners were letting themselves out after doing round the whole house. All the while Elsie was completely unperturbed. [SIGH]

The Big apple tree is absolutely covered in blossom. Good to see it thriving after we spent several years after moving in hard pruning it and getting it back into shape and productivity. Likely to be over 80 years old now,

I've been reading the compelling Recursion by Blake Crouch, very wibbly wobbly timey wimey thriller, but had to put it down as it's gotten very dark and frightening. A bit of Barbara Pym to restore balance before bed I think.

That's ... halfway between the outbreak of World War Two, and this year. {takes sharp intake of breath into elderly lungs, coughs}

Happy St George's Day #TTMSSL

Two weeks library hauls together. Viking knits and other ornaments, friends, lovers and the big terrible thing, autobiography by Matthew Perry, the witch who trades with death by CM Alongi, the cost by Morgan Cry, booking by Lucy Mangan, SPQR by Mary Beard and some tame gazelle by Barbara Pym

Anne McClain & Nichole Ayers are living off-world, readying for a May 1 spacewalk: new rollout solar array & moving a commercial vehicle antenna. details: nasa.gov/blogs/spacesta…

Classic end of a wet bank holiday weekend, at least round here anyway

"Understanding your fear did not lessen it's, mass, but instead weakened it's gravity." Oooft. Lorraine Wilson in We Are All Ghosts in the Forest. Beautiful writing.

I'm reading a library book from my haul on the basis that there's a waiting list for it and I need to crack on with it as it's due back on Wednesday. Yesterday someone put a hold on another book I have out that is also due back on Wednesday, so I shall be spending the weekend reading. #winning
