In the departure lounge at Manchester Airport waiting to board a flight to Newquay for the LOUDfence at Truro Cathedral tomorrow. Please keep our work accompanying those affected by abuse in your prayers 🙏 LOUDfence - make your voice and your compassion visible.

The LOUDfence at Truro Cathedral begins on Monday 24th February. If you would like to add a message of support for survivors of abuse please contact us here or contact Truro Cathedral @trurocathedral.bsky.social

Our duty of care to our fellow man is not a commodity to be traded as part of a transactional process. The gospel does not say "care, but only if you get paid". If your compassion is transactional, is it really compassion at all?

Please join us for the third LOUDfence Workshop at Our Lady and St Cuthbert in Berwick upon Tweed in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle on 22nd March at 10.30am. LOUDfence-make your voice and your compassion visible.

Our Lady, Senior Safeguarding Officer of your global church, intercede for all who suffer, especially those who carry the wounds caused by abuse.

Shouldn't being in church feel as safe as being with you grandmother whilst she sits in her chair sewing? LOUDfence - the origin of instinctive safeguarding from the heart of the domestic church.

Please join us at St Mary's Cathedral in Newcastle on 1st February at 10am for the second Diocesan LOUDfence Workshop.

This sweet little dog is Archie. He attended the LOUDfence Workshop at St Paul's Church in Alnwick on Saturday. He was sprinkled with gold leaf whilst sitting under the work table, so he looks quite glamorous. Those who seek to reform cultural attitudes to safeguarding come in all shapes and sizes.

Safeguarding and the care of survivors is the responsibility of everyone in the church. We have a moral responsibility to recognise there are many vocations but one universal responsibility to safeguard. LOUDfence - the common vocation of care.

Please join us for the second LOUDfence Workshop at St Mary's Cathedral in Newcastle on 1st February at 10am. LOUDfence - stitching the fabric of the church back together one wounded relationship at a time.

It would be tempting to think this was true, but God is so much greater than our disappointments. Don't lose hope.

"If every human being possesses an inalienable dignity, if all people are my brothers and sisters, and if the world truly belongs to everyone, then it matters little whether my neighbor was born in my country or elsewhere (125)." #PopeFrancis #FratelliTutti

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” - Dr. Martin Luther King

youtu.be/nXzOBe3vHUQ?... Happy feast of St Sebastian to all the Sebastians and Sebastianas out there, especially to my husband and son. This is how we celebrate in Palma

Jubilee Survivor Pilgrim Shells being gilded in 24 crt gold leaf and sterling silver leaf by survivors, parishioners and clergy at the LOUDfence Workshop in St Paul's Church in Alnwick.

The LOUDfence Workshop at St Paul's Church in Alnwick yesterday was a wonderful event. This is Canon Stephen Watson, the parish priest, making a message of support for a survivor he has accompanied. The church has to be a sanctuary for all who have been wounded by abuse.

From my intercessions this morning: “Bind the forces of abuse, oppression and violence. Bless the work of peacemakers; through their efforts, may your reconciliation, healing and peace be known on earth, as it is in heaven. So help us, God.” Mary, Queen of Peace, Queen of Palestine, pray for us

Schools sometimes struggle to provide adequate provision for children with special educational needs, but St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is leading the way with a new state-of-the-art sensory room. Read more: diocesehn.org.uk/news/inclusi... #EduDHN @bishopbewickcet.bsky.social

We begin the new year by giving a practical gift to the whole church. This ecumenical workshop is an opportunity to share practical ways to begin a pilgrimage of restoration from the inside outwards. The workshop is free of charge and everybody is included. Please contact us to reserve a place.

One of the privileges of working on LOUDfence is the people we have the opportunity to talk with. One of them is David in Orkney who sends shells for our Jubilee Pilgrims of Hope Shells. Here they are, fresh from the North Sea. Thanks David

The first of our LOUDfence Workshops begins at 10.30am on Saturday 18th January at St Paul's RC Church in Alnwick. Please join us and make the voice and compassion of the domestic church visible.

A 96 year old Italian lady who sits in front of me at mass told me this. "The instinctive primary safeguarders of the catholic church are not found in seminaries or on altars. They are made in maternity wards. The church already had the solution all along. They just didn't realise it "

I'll be posting a bit more in the next few days, but in the meantime, strength and solidarity to victims and survivors who might be feeling rather lost in the noise of it all. You are not alone. As a survivor of CSA, I'm sick and tired of empty words, and of feeling drawn into this toxicity. #CSA

Feast of the motherhood of Mary. Our Lady, Senior Safeguarding Officer of your global church, guide all those who work in safeguarding throughout the coming year and cast the light of truth on those whose actions fail to prioritise the safety of the vulnerable. Pray for us.

Today is the feast of the holy family. The first relationship which existed at the very beginning of the domestic church was between Jesus and his mum. Mary's instinctive vocation was to safeguard Jesus. This is the beginning of safeguarding in the domestic church.

The feast of the holy innocents is a day to reflect on the duty of care we owe to others and the critical importance of safeguarding. “A voice was heard in Ramah of painful crying and deep sadness: Rachel crying for her children. She refused to be comforted, because her children are dead.”

Holy Innocents I have never found this feast easy. A part of me just doesn’t want to think about the slaughter of children. Sadly, the actions of a merciless depot are not confined to Biblical times.

Happy St Stephen's Day. St Stephen pray for us.

This is today's picture inviting us to contemplate hope in Advent. "The angel Gabriel from heaven came. His wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame.."

This is today's picture inviting us to reflect on hope in Advent. Today is the winter solstice. We will have very little sunlight, but after today the nights start to get lighter. The darkness will pass and the light will prevail.
