So I get it. I’m also going to flat out say you will not catch me buying BL or even shoujo on digital copy because I do not trust manga publishers (especially biggies like Viz/Shueisha) to not preemptively cave to government censorship.

Heartbreaking. His voice was so iconic and incredible, and really showed how you can get some amazingly unique performances from people who aren’t voice actors. SG:CtC was a one-of-a-kind show, nothing like it has ever existed before or since. RIP to an absolute legend.

Spending a couple of days in Savannah in one really old hotel. The floorboards all creak and the floor slopes so bad in the bathroom it’s disorienting. The place is supposedly haunted. Can’t get that from your Holiday Inn.

Finished reading Last Quarter and really it was too much of a elementary-kids-solve-a-mystery storyline for me. It was fine, still Yazawa’s stylish art and interesting characters and a bit of melodrama. Mysteries & ghosts do make a good weekend read.

It’s not that readers are “print or nothing”. It’s that apps typically don’t have the content I want (shoujo and BL) and I profoundly disagree with a “pay to rent until our license falls through” model. Print is the only way you own something here.

Nostalgia is going to hit. Reminiscing is fine but live in the present. Create new traditions, meet new people and go to new places. Watch/ play/ listen to new things (at least new to you). Nothing is ever going to be the same as it was 20 years ago, just don’t let that make you bitter and unhappy.

FLCL was an incredibly influential anime, and I don't think it would have had a fraction of the reach without its soundtrack. Animation and comics wouldn't be the same. We owe so much to the pillows.

This is like the smallest problem in the world right now, but Barnes & Noble has sent my last couple small orders in nothing but a padded envelope. Their cardboard mailers weren’t the best (rip rightstuf) but worked fine. Hoping this is a blip because it’s terrible for hardcovers.
