MIL in recovery. No updates other than that available (which sounds ominous).

MIL update: Late night conversation with surgeon re: operation on MIL’s hip & femur. No op would be very bad; outcome from operation is likely to be not great too. The kicker is she can’t get a formal diagnosis for dementia while in hospital & she’s now likely to be in hospital for months.

MIL UPDATE: Along with her actual broken leg (there was some conjecture she hadn't broken it) she also has a hairline fracture of her hip...where she has a 10yo replacement. We think it happened on her last fall (GP said it "looked OK"). She varies between compos and confused all too easily.

MIL’s nursing home just called. She had another fall overnight (her fifth in eight days), and this time she has broken her leg. She’s in the process of getting diagnosed for dementia, and is railing against the effects of that (understandably). Supporting her is very hard work.
