With the degradation of the FBI and other national security institutions, we are sitting ducks for a major terrorist attack on U.S. soil. I gifted this article to you. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/01/u...

Old enough to remember House Dems saying they couldn't possibly try to open a locked door to get Elon's rats out of the building they were unlawfully occupied in because what if they got arrested and missed a vote and then three of them literally died and now they're getting raided by ICE

Couldn’t help but notice that neither the Times or Post have a story up about Trump saying he’s not sorry that Joe Biden has cancer. I guess that’s just Trump being Trump ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is one of the best mainstream pieces of A.I. criticism I've ever read, and it is somehow on CNN. @amorrow.bsky.social is far ahead

Jay Bhattacharya is a health economist who dislikes virology because he thinks it’s reckless & dangerous to study pathogens or develop vaccines. I’m a virologist who dislikes this take on health economics because I think it’s reckless & dangerous to take $8.2 trillion in life value from Americans.

M. Gessen is such an important writer. In their latest essay they put words on the creeping normalization of a lawless, tyrannical America. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/o...

MUST WATCH: ICE kidnapped a disabled American citizen. Her name is Alma Bowman. Born in the Philippines while her dad served in the U.S. Navy. She’s lived here 48 years. They crashed her wheelchair, denied meds, cut her off from her lawyer—and jailed her. She. Is. A. Citizen.

On Earth 2.0, folks on the other side of the aisle would say loud and clear that if "everyone involved in the deal understand the payment as the price of merger approval" then it is a bribe, and all of those people should expect to go to prison if it goes ahead in the next administration

Interesting take on the economics of new sports facilities. Cities need more housing but struggle to build it. So they package new housing with a new sports facility. Billion dollar subsidies to billionaire team owners is a poor solution to a housing market failure. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/o...

This guy stole $10 million from the employees of his nursing home to buy himself a luxury yacht and Cartier watches. He PLED GUILTY. And because his Mom gave Trump $1 million, he just got a pardon. And this story barely makes the news today. WTF. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/27/u...

this reads like Frog's last fleeting memories as he bleeds out on a battlefield

Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

From me at @thesicktimes.bsky.social today, about being tired of ableist language for my #disabled, #LongCovid body.

i have some suggestions to get u started tbh www.thehandbasket.co @marisakabas.bsky.social‬ www.damemagazine.com @damemagazine.bsky.social‬ theflytrap.beehiiv.com @theflytrapmedia.com‬ www.mississippifreepress.org @mississippifreepress.org‬

Trump officials' showings at hearings today were disasters, but it doesn't make headlines bc the media's default assumption is that Rs are clownish rascals. But if Dems didn't know what was happening at their agencies or what habeas corpus is, it'd be front page news. This is a key media asymmetry.

This is Vino. Yes, he farts every morning before breakfast. Yes, they still sometimes surprise him. 13/10

NEW COMIC: All Figured Out (based on a real conversation I overhead)

In this op-ed, politics editor Lex McMenamin explains why using AI to search "how to be sustainable" could be accomplishing the opposite.

'When We’re In Charge' is a no-bullshit guide for the next generation of leaders on how to show up differently, break the cycle of bad boomer leadership, and navigate the changing demands of those in power and the evolving expectations people have of their workplace. Read the excerpt below.

Jesse Watters has always been racist but his monologue right now about “white farmers” from South Africa being better than “foreigners” because the whites aren’t “criminals” is just fucking galling.

Ozzy's first College committee meeting

"Masked security forces captured an opposition leader in the coastal province of New Jersey as regime officials continue their months-long crack-down against pro-democracy elements in the embattled United States. The arrest comes as the regime issued calls for summary detentions without trial."

My son just pointed out to me that His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, as a Villanova graduate, may well be the first supreme pontiff who has been to a Wawa

“And in closing… He pulls a knife? You pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital? You send one of his to the morgue! That's the Chicago way.” ::applause::

@thesicktimes.bsky.social - Gotta love getting denied LTD by insurance based on a medical review by an old RN who repeatedly calls it, "so-called Long Covid", describes it as "controversial amongst the medical community," and that "there is no medical literature to substantiate long term symptoms."

Another one for #TeacherAppreciationWeek! Yes. The picture and descriptions are real from then 6yo!😬 BONUS Panel below! 👇

Since Trump took office, his family has made $2.9 billion in crypto. Again, this is a level of corruption so cartoonish, so obvious & on the surface, that it seems to have stunned everyone to silence.
