This thread is incredible

“That is why Trumpists are so focused on “ending DEI” in the federal workforce. They see anti-discrimination and inclusion as a ladder of upward mobility for people they do not believe should have one.”

A new executive order from the Trump Administration commands the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to terminate the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Long COVID. Read more from @mileswgriffis.bsky.social: bit.ly/3CY2vj1

A must-read about how to deal with online trolls.

I want to hear a lot more from JB Pritzker and AOC, and a lot less from Schumer and Jeffries

“The number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic was so large that it ended up impacting the nation’s Social Security fund — which had a net increase of $205 billion.”

You had better take a shot, and then read this. www.linkedin.com/posts/charle...

Without going all Martin Niemöller here, I do think that it's bad not to speak up for immigrants, transgender Americans, civil servants, women, Ukraine, and everyone else the MAGA bullies are going after. We're beyond picking and choosing whom to defend. It's time to stand up and speak out.

Tommy Tuberville blocked military promotions for months while his party was in the minority and he can’t read or write

I have been talking to the media, Time, Fortune, NBC, etc., to explain how the onslaught on science and NIH will impact the health of all Americans. Everyone knows someone who has cancer, heart disease, or depression. Spread the word about how cutting science impacts all. time.com/7216299/nih-...

tale as old as time

American institutions—from the media to Congress—continue to underreact to the unraveling of our democracy. Overseas our media would not hesitate to call what we’re living through a full-blown autocratic coup. Here's my attempt at the story they should write: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/musk-trump...

happy valentine's day

This is exactly right, I’ve said it 1,000 times, and @schumer.senate.gov and @schatz.bsky.social and @warren.senate.gov need to wake TF up and understand it: These are abnormal times, the media isn’t covering things as abnormal, and that’s b/c Dem Senators are not ACTING like things are abnormal.

Termination notices going out this afternoon to more than 300 employees of the National Cancer Institute. Access likely ends today. Four weeks paid leave and that’s it. Strong power move for Team Cancer.

Allegory alert!

In light of the news that DOJ leadership is forcing career prosecutors to either dismiss the criminal case against Eric Adams or be fired, it seems like a good time to remind everyone that the judge can refuse to dismiss. That rule exists precisely in order to prevent corrupt dismissals.

wrote about life, love and the birds:

Wow. The NYT reports that Acting Deputy AG Emil Bove coached Mayor Eric Adams' attorneys on what to argue in order to get the charges dismissed (namely, that the charges were interfering with the mayor's ability to cooperate with Trump's immigration crackdown): www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/n...

Not that anyone cares but a bunch of senior doj officials resigning over a corrupt instruction to drop a case was what triggered the Nixon impeachment, and in the Trump era it's just the 2pm scandal of a random Thursday and every day now has ~3 such scandals that would have ended any prior admin

If the president can ignore court orders and illegally circumvent, Congress, there is no Constitution. It’s gone. There’s no enumerated right that the president can’t take from you, no law Congress can pass that is binding, and no court that can protect you from any of it. It’s the whole ballgame.

our hugely over-valued, energy-sucking bullshit machines still curiously can't do the basics

USAID’s inspector general—presumably operating from a remote base in the mountains—has just released a report on the staggering effect of the Trump Administration’s assault on the agency. oig.usaid.gov/sites/defaul...

A picture perfect moment 📸

I wasn’t even imagining it. 😮‍💨

Vermeule teaches at Harvard Law. Tom Cotton is a Harvard Law grad. JD Vance is a Yale Law grad. John Yoo is a Yale Law grad. Samuel Alito, Yale Law. Brett Kavanaugh, Yale Law. Clarence Thomas, Yale Law. "Elite" law schools ought to be having a reckoning. But they won't.

Uh.
