My friend at UT Austin reports campus lawyers have instructed individuals and departments to scrub public websites of any reference to diversity, equity and inclusion. Her whole job is researching UT's resistance to desegregation. Things are bad, y'all.

I don't have anything new to say about the fact that Palestinians are human beings whose lives are sacred and Israelis are human beings whose lives are sacred and all people must be safe and free and hostages must come home and another world is possible. Will keep screaming & weeping myself hoarse.

If you'd like to learn more, there's a wealth of data here: www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CFH... (I believe this is the study referenced?)

I've reached a new stage of cuddling with my cat. Now, when I pick her up and hug she actively relaxes, rather than simply not tensing up. And she's letting me hold her for way longer.

Someone on Twitter said this would discriminate against people with speech disorders, and actually that discrimination already happens! I had a neighbor when I lived in Houston who had speech impairment from a stroke and an ER tried to deny her care because they thought she was just drunk.

A fifth-grader from Brownsville ISD reported being bullied by his principal. Five days later, he was handcuffed and detained. He spent 3 days in solitary confinement. A horrifying story uncovered by Investigative Reporting Fellow Josephine Lee:

since allistic people think ABA is a great way to train autistic people how to communicate with everyone else, can we use ABA to train allistic people how to communicate with us?

“Overwhelmingly, autistic adults (n = 299) preferred identity-first language terms to refer to themselves or others with autism. Professionals who work in the autism community (n = 207) were more likely to support and use person-first language.” Nothing about us without us.

If you’re going to protests right now, please wear an n95 or equivalent mask or respirator. Continue to protect yourself and others from COVID and act in solidarity with disabled folks. Plus it’s great to not have your face all over social media when you are participating in rallies and marches.

If a professional tells you to grieve your Autistic loved one's diagnosis, stop seeing that professional. No matter their struggle. They have value, they have life. Do not grieve the living. Grieve the society that views disabled people as something less than alive. #ActuallyAutistic

Advocating for yourself as an autistic human in public isn’t a small feat. It’s a huge victory and not only helps you, but all autistic people.

I have a lot of issues with people who calls themselves "Autism Parents" or "Autism Moms" because 1. uh, you child is autistic, not you, don't center yourself like that it's weird 2. they generally only focus on the challenges, think ABA is "helpful", and often are anti-vaxx.

Androids that fuck each other to transfer data and it’s pleasurable since it’s actually highly useful

bi erasure is predicated on the idea that bi men are gay and bi women are experimenting or having fun. the underlying idea being everyone is only attracted to men.

Obviously vaccines have nothing to do with autism, but I always thought it's the most savage thing in the world for parents to announce that they'd rather risk their kid get polio or die than risk they become autistic. They say this *where autistic people can hear them*. It's amazing!

Reminder that Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter, and Variety are all owned by a member of the AMPTP, so any story from any of them which asserts divisions within SAG-AFTRA and which is only backed up by anonymous sources should be taken with a grain of salt, to say the very least.

When a cat is happily kneading its paws on a blanket or other surface we tend to call it "making biscuits" here in North America. I'd love to hear from people in other countries: what do you call this kneading in your language (if non-English) and what does it mean?

An autistic man died in Allegheny County Jail, afraid & asking to go home, after the jail did not take care of his wound. He was arrested for the first time in his life after the group home staff called the police for him trying to cook pasta. #ShutDownACJ theappeal.org/pittsburgh-a...

Just fyi I block anyone who complains about self-diagnosis of autism. I won’t give warnings, just block. Medical diagnosis is inaccurate & almost completely inaccessible for adults. It can impact legal rights. Yeah, some non-autistics wrongly self-dx, but far more autistics have no other option.
