A Powl is a Powerful Owl. As Australia's largest owl and the only bird here capable of lifting more than its body weight in prey I think that's how it got its name!

They really are. This one was one of the first POwls I’d seen, and one I got up close to when we were involved in her rescue, she even wing patted my head on her release! So, if possible a little bit more magnificent and special.

Not too active, but they do roost in dense foliage rather than hollows, which are used to raise their chicks. They nap rather than sleep and Owlets are easily distracted by everything that moves or makes a noise. @doktrnick.bsky.social has the best video of a chick with a limited attention span.
