What are the chances of Australia cutting the US out of AUKUS and going solely with Europe?

I would add South Korea, Vietnam and the Philippines. Indonesia could be a little tough due to the rise in conservative Islam, but there is some friction with SCS claims.

Listening to the Focus Group podcast, it’s depressing that people aren’t waking up to the threat yet. Too many are excited to see this otherworldly genius fix the government.

Been saying this for months. Multiple nations rely on America’s strategic umbrella, and that’s by design because of mutual benefit. Due to Trump, that umbrella is now very much in question. Countries will act accordingly.

100% agree. Hope Europe can accelerate IRIS2, they’re going to need it.

This is blatant extortion. I would say sign the deal and tear it up when the war is over. Not like Trump adheres to treaties anymore than Putin does.

Hoping Norway’s wealth fund divests soon. They voted against Musk’s pay package last year and he was pissed.

Fuck that drunk and fuck President Musk. Fuck Trump too while we’re at it.

Grande Ronde Hospital made $10 million in profit in 2023 on $150 million in revenue. 26% of Union County is on Medicaid. Good chance they’re in the red going forward if Medicaid cuts go through. projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/o...

Judge Advocate General. They’re the folks that can advise as to the legality of orders for instance. I’ll let everyone speculate as to why they were fired.

Both strategies have risks and rewards. What Trump is doing is morally repugnant. Like I said, it might make sense for Ukraine to sign now and walk away later. Nobody serious would blame them. By that point, I also have a feeling Trump is going to have bigger things to worry about.

Hey man, I’m with ya. We need to get Ukraine through the present to the future. How best to accomplish that? Is it best to try and keep Trump on board, knowing that he has the attention span of a goldfish? Or does Ukraine and Europe cut the line.
comment in response to post
Fight the present now and worry about the future later. Considering Trump tears up treaties on the regular, I can see Ukraine returning the favour post war and telling Trump thanks for the guns, go fuck yourself.

The Russian economy is not in great shape. Their Soviet stocks are nearing exhaustion. Keep Trump onside for a little while longer. There’s also the possibility of Ukraine tearing up the deal on their own post war because it was made under duress and therefore void.
comment in response to post
It’s a tough position. It’s tempting to tell Trump to pound sand, especially if Europe steps up (big if). Trump also can’t be trusted (obviously). But, the more I think about it, it might make sense for Ukraine. If anything, it buys them some more time.

No, he sat on them.

In that time, there has the potential to have significant political change in Washington. A subsequent Democratic administration may decide to alter it in favour of Ukraine. So Mr Cuban is saying sign now, worry about the costs later. Not entirely unreasonable.
comment in response to post
I think what he’s saying is that Trump is after a “win”. That win has the potential to be very beneficial in the short term for Ukraine. The costs are also going to be pretty negligible. It’s going to take a long time for mineral extraction to ramp up. Years in fact.

Do be fair, flying on American airplanes the last month hasn’t been all hugs and rainbows either. Crazy what happens when you gut air traffic control.

Sadly, considering who Trump put in his cabinet and with the demolition of the transatlantic alliance, I feel that I can safely say that Trump does not give a dead rats ass about national security.

It’s so infuriating that this shit has been known forever and NOTHING OF SIGNIFICANCE has been done about it.

I think Fulton county is carved up into three districts as I recall. His part went roughly 50/50, the other two portions were heavily blue. The other five counties or so are REALLY red.

Hopefully yes. But, they might get significant push back from locals. Lot of whackos in northern rural Georgia.
comment in response to post
It is. Now, if Trump goes through with his Medicaid cuts, this might start changing though. You will see a lot more angry people.

This is in a northern Atlanta suburb. Sadly, the rest of his district is hard core MAGA country. He won by 30 points.
comment in response to post
It’s in northern Fulton County which is pretty blue. The rest of his district is blood red MAGA country.
comment in response to post
By thirty points no less. It’s just appalling.
comment in response to post
He won his district by about 30 points this past cycle. Sadly he’s not going anywhere soon. The GA GOP gerrymandered the hell out of it.

When is Europe going to wake up to the fact that it’s at war with Russia???
comment in response to post
Fuck Trump. Zelenskyy needs to stand firm here. Trump will rob Ukraine blind and leave it defenceless.

Solid strategy. I hear that Republican boys don’t like to go into the kitchen.
