We don’t need to become consumed by the divisive politics of the world, but we must always stand for truth, the truth of the gospel, the truth of justice, and the truth of love. 🧵/

Lk. 4:18 shows Jesus’ heart for the oppressed, and in Mt. 23, Jesus rebukes religious leaders for neglecting justice, loving power & status. We must reject any political stance that marginalizes/harms others and instead promote policies that reflect God’s justice, mercy & care for the marginalized.

Romans 13:1-7 teaches that we are to submit to governing authorities, but this submission is always secondary to our allegiance to God’s law. When political movements or figures promote hate, division, or harm to others, we must speak out against them in the name of God’s justice and righteousness.

A reminder for these times.

Lion King or any other trauma piece.

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

We all lose hope that suffering in our lives & the world will ever end. I want to share w/you my faith & understanding that suffering can be transformed & redeemed. There's no such thing as a totally hopeless case. God is an expert dealing w/chaos...w/the worst that we can imagine. -Desmond Tutu

Stop shrinking to make others comfortable. This doesn't mean be obnoxious. One can still be kind, humble, strong and confident without shrinking. The right people will not be intimidated, they will be inspired. The wrong people will fall away. LET THEM.

To the high performers, I see you. My hope & prayer is that you are blessed with people who see beyond your strengths and see your needs. People who rely on you often assume you don’t need encouragement/support because you seem so capable. They see the fruit of your gifts but not the cost of them.

Sometimes, in healing, we can feel like we're back at the beginning. But it's the weariness that clouds our perspectives. The truth is you're not the same as before. The lessons, the faith, the endurance, it’s all still there. You’re just tired, and tired minds lie. #healedandhealing

So, what now? If you can’t run, don’t. If you can’t fight, rest. If you can’t see the next step, be still. Don't push harder. Surrender deeper. And not the kind of surrender that feels like giving up, but the kind that lets Jesus hold you instead of you trying to hold everything together. #Rest

It's Black History Month in Canada as well. Here are some of the most resilient Black Canadian women who fought for equality and civil rights. #canada #BHM2025 #booksky #blackbooksky

For those who struggle with Christianity’s capitulation to power and greed, I offer the Woke Christian Creed. Because it was Jesus himself who urged his followers to “stay awake.” open.substack.com/pub/drchaneq...

The best time to prepare for emergencies is before they happen. Organized, trained, teachable and committed volunteers can make a huge difference when disaster strikes.

@blackwealthhistory.bsky.social I feel honored to be the first follower of what is great content to come 🫶🏾

Victims of the Washington DC plane crash – the full list so far

If your pastor is trying to preach bravely right now, support her or him. Up your pledge (to make up anyone threatening to withdraw support) if you have the means. Tell them that you have their back. Speak up in defense of bravery and truth. Pray for the pastor-and your fellow parishioners.

This time of preparation isn’t just about stepping into your next season, it’s about deepening your intimacy with Jesus and allowing Him to shape you for the purpose He has in store.

People are about to learn just how many programs, departments, events, roles, etc for Black and brown folks were federally funded (and in some cases federally protected). All the Black ppl who always ask "what have the dems even done for us" are about to get the most dramatic answer possible.

A lot of the immigrants who look down on African Americans are about to find out that the civil rights that Black people died for are the reason why their parents came to America in the first place!

Thread on censorship...

It did, but I'm not surprised. At the end of the day, the day gotta end. But seriously, they will stand with their money and we need to show them that it's actually us the people who control their profit lines. We must unite. They've baited white people into going against their own interests...

Reminders to myself: Pride whispers, "Why bother? It won’t make a difference." But God tells us to pray because He delights in hearing from us. Fear says, "What if I pray and nothing happens?" But God reassures us that He hears every prayer & works all things for our good, even if the answer is no.

While the "what ifs" in life are natural, they often exist in the space where we try to rewrite a story that God has already closed. They aren't reality. Our journey with God, though, is still unfolding, and He has something different and better for you ahead.
