I keep saying this: if you grew up under an abuser, you know exactly what this is and that no appeasement is possible.

Just read this graf. Share it with people you know who don’t pay attention to politics or news.

A memo to the Education department’s Office for Civil Rights reveals that the agency will allow “only disability-based discrimination” cases to proceed. Thousands of outstanding race, gender complaints will continue to sit idle. @jsmithrichards.bsky.social @jodiscohen.bsky.social

Print some of these (which you can do at library if you don’t have a printer) and carry them with you as you run errands. If a cashier tries to make small talk, ask if they want a flier! It’s time to get busy :)

Sharing to get feedback on a draft interactive population change map for the St. Louis region. I will add city and neighborhood boundaries. It’s interactive—you can turn the legend categories on and off. slustl.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant...

I called all of Josh Hawley’s phone numbers today, left a message a few times, and then someone in the Springfield office picked up. I then pleaded with this office dude to pass on a message to Hawley about support of Medicaid. I hope it works. 🤞🏻

Lol

White neurotypical culture is also based on the implicit understanding that how WE treat OUR PEOPLE is not how we treat THEM. We are socialized to not point this out, though, causing slight dissociation.

Several Department of Education employees told ProPublica they were directed not to contact students and schools about their pending civil rights cases. “We’ve been essentially muzzled,” an attorney said. By @jsmithrichards.bsky.social and @jodiscohen.bsky.social

Musk’s staffers are accessing the heavily guarded Internal Revenue Service (IRS) system, which contains detailed financial information on every taxpayer, business, and nonprofit in the country.

Thousands in the US protested in St. Louis against Trump's ethnic cleansing campaign and concentration camps. #3E #USprotests “A lot of people are very scared right now. I am scared too,” “But I have to go out despite the fear because we have to defend our rights.” www.stlpr.org/government-p...

On top of all the righteous anger (and self-righteousness), is this small thread of hurt. No policy violations for me because I wasn’t invited and didn’t know it happened. www.stltoday.com/news/local/e...

On the bright side, this excellent from the CA Dept of Education: "our offer is this: *nothing.*"

ICE agents raided a local establishment in Newark, NJ, detaining undocumented residents as well as citizens, w/o producing a warrant. One of the detainees is a U.S. military veteran who suffered the indignity of having the legitimacy of his military documentation questioned. tinyurl.com/yknvcm9w

Socials like discord make me feel like I’m not nerdy enough to be there. 🤦🏼‍♀️

So to sum up last night, a school board member resigned in protest over unethical behavior, the board president responded by 1) confirming unethical behavior and 2) defending it; soon after during public comment the BP left the stage to confront a speaker bc she took issue with his saying her name.

I just joined Red Note and I’m obsessed. 🤩

This is a very generous and kind account about last night www.stlpr.org/education/20...

the chinese netizens have put america in the ground

Mock this all you want but these people organize, vote, and bring casseroles when people in the group are sick or have babies. Speaking of babies, they have more than we do, homeschool, & those kids will vote one day, too. The point is… we have work to do & scoring points ain’t it.

Thinking about all the friends who text me: “What do you know about XYZ.” And then are still my friend 20 texts from me later when I have exhausted the things I know about that topic. 😇

In 2020, we mapped out the danger zones that will close in on Americans over the next 30 years — combining climate data with wildfire projections by US Forest Service researchers. See what changes are in store for your county. By @shaw.al , @abrahm.bsky.social & Jeremy W. Goldsmith
