I would like to hear from anthrocon attendees on how crowd control is better there, I don't hear as many complications from them as I do FWA

A virtual line system sounds great to me as someone with chronic joint pain that flares up when standing in place for too long, except I guess it's just the time you're supposed to get into the actual line instead? Did someone even test this system out?

I get that attendance has been exponential where staffing has been stagnant, but the staff you do have needs to all be on the same page and it just sounds like there's been zero pre-convention communication and training.

In addition to the "join a discord"
Be an active participant. You don't make friends by being silent.

You do have to go seeking spaces you want to find friends in. Finding like-minded chat rooms is a good start, but if youre not chatting or getting involved in events, you go invisible. I partake in more irl settings and become a ghost in chat rooms, so that's where my experience is.

Yeah, some conventions have rooms dedicated to gaming, empty rooms people are allowed to use if there's no events going on. The groups I'm referring to are games at the table currently going.

If cozy streams are something you're seeking, see if you can duel stream with someone on picarto, or join discord groups that allow screen sharing. I don't do a lot of chat room theses days, so I'm sorry I can't be as much help locating specific ones :<

I don't have a specific chat room or discord for my friends, I keep in touch with them all individually and meet up in person for games. Most of my friends have been made by joining board game groups at conventions or local meet and greets.

How does this even happen??

If you go to conventions that have a game room, I suggest finding a group and asking if you can join! People are usually super nice about it and I've made a few connections that way

I'd argue my relationship with my long term friends as adults has even been healthier than a lot of friendships I made in school, because I have a choice in what spaces I'm in and who I want to interact with, and they came so naturally by just chatting or joining games over time.

I hope she is no longer in pain and free, and please be sure to take time to grieve and take care of yourself

It's even worse over on Artfight where users can use CSS to change their entire page theme. There's some really nice ones, and then there's others that decide rapid flashing everywhere is fun. For some reason.

Sometimes things happen and we don't understand how or why. Fish especially seem really hard to keep alive, even people experienced in the hobby occasionally have unexpected passing. It's not your fault.
