literally every time I talk to friends

As an American, I want to personally apologize to President Zelensky for the way he was treated today. I’m appalled at his treatment and at our current leadership.

Current read. For no reason… My library purchased it on Libby to make it available to its patrons. For no reason…

I want every Democrat to sound like this. Meanwhile I'm listening to the sounds of (congressional) silence.

So one of the things that I think is lost on AI proponents is what I call the card catalog effect, a thing I shouldn’t call it because a lot of people probably have no experience with a card catalog.

I don’t necessarily want Democrats to emulate Trump and act outside the law to defend our country, but I do wish they’d act outside their comfort level

what we need around here are more dragons

New get-rich-quick plan: instead of those vertical signs for your porch that say “grateful” or “blessed,” a new line that says “terrified” or “”mad as hell” or “just try me.”

In Massachusetts - NIH FUNDING: $3.5 B JOBS SUPPORTED: 28,842 ECONOMIC ACTIVITY SUPPORTED: $7.48 B

Diversity is a fact: All kinds of people exist. Equity is a goal: All kinds of people deserve a chance at success. Inclusion is how we get to equity. By including them, they can achieve success. It's that simple.

Mostly sincere question: So, if the Nazi and his Little Nazis are saving the government so much money and uncovering all this completely real waste and fraud, that money is going to all come back to the taxpayers, right? I assume in the form of giant tax refunds?

Librarians aren't going to save us. Librarians aren't superheroes. They're just people trying to keep largely underfunded and overwhelmed public services going. Praise is nice; realistic expectations are better; material support is best.

I cannot agree with this strongly enough. DO SOMETHING!

Just a reminder that Musk couldn’t get a top level security clearance. And he was under investigation for violating the terms of the clearance he did have. Now he has your Social Security number, your tax returns, and is unilaterally deciding who the government does and does not pay.

The US constitution was built to avoid centralized power and tyranny. It is not the constitution that is failing us. It is the partisans who have promised to uphold the constitution that are failing us.

I love that a white guy was flying the plane, a white guy was flying the helicopter, and a white guy gutted the FAA last week but somehow the blame is too much diversity.

In my head all day.

As the U.S. shifts into a volatile political landscape targeting critical thinking, I want to share an important reminder to the #booksky community: The only way to preserve literature is by collecting physical copies. I know, Kindle users, it sucks—but your digital copy can be deleted any time.

Just finished listening to the audiobook ALL THE WATER IN THE WORLD by Eiren Caffall. A beautiful novel that contemplates the world after huge climate change brings floods and extreme storms. What do we save? Who do we become? 💙 📚 #booksky #library

I like Oxford a lot. Its architecture, and bookshops, and cafes, plus its all-pervading ambience of history and learning, but I think what I most like about it is its commas.

'Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again. It seemed to me I stood by the iron gate leading to the drive, and for a while I could not enter, for my eyes were too googly.'

This morning Waylon looked an awful lot like a man reevaluating his life choices after a three day bender… #Waylon

It’s fine. I’m fine. #Waylon

NYE dessert

I love how people think those little cheese knives are for serving cheese, like awwww that's cute no those are for *defending* your cheese, trust no one

Hi! #Waylon #Catsky

I recommend no fewer than 4 copies of any beloved book. A paperback for traveling and lending to friends, an eBook for reading with greasy snack fingers, an audio book so you know how the characters' names are actually pronounced, and a pristine hardcover to be buried with you like a pharaoh
