I think Chutkan knows that this is just a shell game but she is waiting for ammunition... I hope.

"for a nominal fee?"

which of course is a tiny fraction of the indirect costs directly attributable to the specific project.

sorry didn't see you're later post.

C'mon, the naming isn't the issue. The point is to signal obedience. To miss that is to be completely obtuse.

Thanks for stating what has to be done and to encourage Europe to stand up to Trump as well as Putin.

have you checked Google maps? (maybe someone else has mentioned this)

Of course this was the clear intent of Project 2025, which the media let Trump pretend he knew nothing of it.

Why is this woman not in a position of leadership in the Democratic party? (Rhetorical question.)

Axelrod and Emanuel need to be escorted to take a long walk off a short pier.

For years I had an Indians cap with Chief Wahoo on it (signed by Dennis Martinez); never thought much about it; but looking at it recently, it really was bad, and I'm good with "Guardians". It isn't only what we haven't been but what we can become.

It's all BS. "Only those who acted in a partisan manner" are at risk; who's going to decide what this means? Actually, we know; partisan = investigate MAGA insurrectionists.

Dude, it is ALREADY illegal. If the existing law doesn't work, how the hell will a new law make any difference?
comment in response to post
And who has immunity for official acts, per SCOTUS
comment in response to post
To be scrupfair, it’s hard to tell the difference sometimes.

He's saying that Vance is acting/talking in a non-Christian way, which is ok since Vance claims to be a Christian. Also, many other things Stewart has done seems very non-jackass to me, but you do you.

I think this is beyond the specific person who wrote this. It's part of the new NYT overall mission to bend the knee (see Krugman's essay on The Contrarian for why he left).

Competing with Pitchbot now, are you?

It's so good to again read the missives from the most dangerous (dangeral?) parofessor.

She wouldn't have called for the Gazans to be moved out. Or send a fan of West Bank settlements to be ambassador to Israel. There's also this deportation thing going on and other disasters. The only person who could have been pressured to change policy was Harris.
comment in response to post
I used to read your stuff but you have really gone unhinged in a very ugly way. Don't worry though; there's really nothing to stop Israeli settlers from continuing to illegally annex Palestinan land in the West Bank.

This isn't even satire, Doug.

I once again note that McArgleBargle suggested that the best way to make sure of a comfortable retirement was to save 25% of your salary.

As somebody who has long admired your insistence on standing up to Russia and supporting Ukraine, I know you have to do this given your position, but you should know that Little Marco will toe Trump's line. So good luck to Europe.

Well, Trump conquered the WaPo, so that's what counts.

Read the article. Oppose, don't help the Rs, call attention to every bad thing that occurs, and make it clear that the Rs are responsible because they are the entire government.

Fair enough. But it only takes a few in the right places (see SCOTUS).

a) people who pay back their taxes plus interest plus penalties hardly ever get prosecuted (Joyce White Vance). b) see marcy Wheeler laying out how this was a political prosecution. c) see Anne Applebaum and others about the danger of Patel not being recognized. d) assholery is right.
comment in response to post
I believe that standards also include not pursing cases for political gain that would not be prosecuted in almost any other case. Your colleague Anne Applebaum notes that people haven't factored in the threat that Patel poses, and apparently those people include you.
comment in response to post
Read Joyce White Vance, Barb McQuade on this: virtually *no one* gets prosecuted after they have paid back taxes in full with interest and penalties. Also the gun charge is ridiculous. Politically-driven by a Trump prosecutor. Would *you* trust Trump not to go after Hunter some more?
comment in response to post
The prosecution was politically motivated. As others (Joyce White Vance, Barb McQuade) have noted, almost *no one* gets prosecuted when they have paid back taxes plus interest and penalties. Also the gun charge is ridiculous. Read Marcy Wheeler on this case.
comment in response to post
I'll go with Joyce White Vance's, former prosecutor, and Barb McQuade's assessments that *most* people are *not* prosecuted for similar situations. He paid back taxes plus interest and penalties, and persuasively missed the taxes due to his addiction. Similarly about the gun charge.

Which was a complete waste of an expensive weapon where a much cheaper missile would do. It was just to scare people like you to think "uh oh, nukes! The world is ending". Putin has repeatedly shown this is a bluff, because using nukes will mean that *he* is toast.
comment in response to post
In retrospect the "intelligence" was wrong, and what Philips is pointing out is not problems with the initial estimate but with the failure to learn from mistakes. Plus, the idea that Putin would happily escalate to EU (i.e., NATO) is insane. NATO would evaporate the R forces.

I've read somewhere that people blame Biden for high prices but somehow don't apply that same blame to Harris...
