The full text was first printed in Paris by Shakespeare and Company in 1922. The first authorized US edition appeared in 1934, after the US District Court ruled that the book was not obscene. Since then, there have been many controversies regarding printing errors and attempts to “correct” the text.

This post features are a few notable editions of Ulysses at various points in its fraught publication history. From 1918-1920, portions were serialized in the American magazine, The Little Review. The magazine was forced to stop publication when its editors were charged with obscenity.

In 1969, Ms. Brooks established the Illinois Poet Laureate Awards, and made many visits to schools and youth organizations throughout her career. Pictured are some of the birthday cards she received, demonstrating how she was and continues to be an inspiration for people of all ages. 🌟

(In fairness, we were in that hotel for a nearby show, just happened to be in the same hotel that the wrestlers were in.)

I've been a huge fan of Charlie Jane's work in general, and this one absolutely delivers.
