Very true, unless you want the fight to take forever!

This made the monk feel way better about the round!

To give a practical example: Yesterday the monk spent a whole round fighting one NPC 1:1 and no attacks connected. The player was deflated and joked: "man we're both sucking." I suggested another narrative: you are equally matched, a flurry of blows, each seeking an opening in the other's defense."

Yes, obviously there is- the snowglobe contains the giant's memory. My players will have to head in and clear a dungeon to retrieve it. And well, you know what happens with snowglobes when all the snow has drifted down. They shake. Let's see them handle this one :) Excited for tomorrow!

The idea this week was snowglobe.

If that works for your group then that's great! It reminds me a bit of 4th edition's "once per combat" spell logic. I like the flavor of the short too much to fully abandon it, so instead we compromised with a solution that works for us :)

This actually happened by the way. Prepare your NPC names beforehand, folks, lest you accidentally improve your plot with unintended intrigue.

I can only wish my players would own me 4 beats of peace. I usually have to fight just to enter a scene 🥲

Also, prepare a list of random names in advance, or all of them are going to be called like Schmarvin. I speak from experience. (And yes much to my chagrin my players love Schmarvin because of course they would)

I'm a sucker for opposing forces drawn together. Angels 😇 & Devils 😈 Frost ❄️ & Fire Elementals🔥 Bird-people & 🐦 Fish-people 🐟 You get the idea.

Ik ook, maar Vegeta mag weten wat mijn gebruikersnaam ook alweer was 😊

Ik heb warme herrineringen aan zulke fora. Avatarspirit.net was mijn stekkie. Je was op deze plekken echt een god als je profielplaatjes en een toffe visuele signature kon maken. Die "sigs" mis ik nog wel eens.
