Today in Mike Johnson: what a little bitch…

Last night I listened, for the first time since 5 Nov, to @strictscrutiny.bsky.social and my god, those women are on FIRE these days. Peewee German?!

I’m going to be honest and say something I wouldn’t say in my home: Air-fried food is hot, crunchy and utterly tasteless. I do not enjoy it. My wife loves her air fryer and gets very excited to cook things in it, and I love her joy but I cannot get with her on this.

Vance.

Adding this to my ongoing BlueSky series ā€œMike Johnson: What a little bitch….ā€

NO ONE IS ILLEGAL IN STARFLEET

I’ve been at this thing, on and off, since June 2024, including a full restart in October due to an error stitched-in too early to unpick. I don’t know what I’ll do with it when it’s finally done. Probably nothing. #crossstitch

I guess the difference between Trump and Truss and their economic snaffoos is that the UK didn’t vote Truss in: we were landed with her by the Tories who selected her as leader after Johnson’s departure. Whereas Trump? The US chose him, singularly, over someone more qualified and more responsible.

He’s going to use the planned protests on the 19th as part of his excuse for imposing military rule on the 20th, isn’t he?

ā€œAbout 400,000 people are falling out of work due to sickness,ā€ says Kendall. ā€œThe longer someone is signed off, the less likely they are to return.ā€ Well, yes, because they’re sicker or disabled — not less willing. Illness and disability aren't a work ethic problem, Liz. #WelfareNotWorkfare

Mike Johnson: what a little bitch.

One of my favourite moments following Cory Booker’s marathon speech was when he gave us insight into how he’d prepared for the feat: intentional fasting and dehydration beforehand, plus limited food throughout because ā€œburning ketones is a good thing!ā€ The man is a scholar *and* an athlete.

Patience: I’ve got this giant mango, It’s been softening for three days -coddling- all cosy under its ripe banana blanket And tomorrow, tomorrow I eat.

Just got destroyed in the face by Weyes Blood’s cover of Neil Diamond’s Shilo. I have to be careful with Neil Diamond because his melodies are apt to bring me to my knees but to be ambushed by a Diamond melody rendered ina Weyes Blood vocal? I didn’t stand a fucking chance.

It's been hard following the news in the UK the last few days, hearing Starmer and Kendall talk about "incentivising" more disabled people to work. Do you think companies want disabled workers? They don't. They don't want us with our needs and sick days, our humanity.

I have a question. When a new UK government comes in and they’re passed the hypothetical bit of paper that tells them why they absolutely cannot, under any circumstances, tax the super rich, what does it say? Because ā€˜if we tax them they’ll leave’ just isn’t cutting it anymore.

I keep finding myself suddenly in tears about the cuts announced by Labour yesterday, and by the rhetoric surrounding the announcement. It’s taken me 5 years to admit that I’m disabled and I’d just applied for PIP to help pay for the drugs and therapies I need to function on a basic level.

If you want to write to your Labour MP about disability benefit cuts but have limited spoons, here’s a template from @sensecharity.bsky.social you can use: t.co/E8QB6EDi9o Public backlash *does* work at times so let’s keep the pressure up. You too, non-disabled allies!

Gender is simply an identity. Like your name, religion, the bands you listen to, what you wear, the career you choose, etc. Identity is individual freedom. The sooner we fully disconnect gender from biological sex, the better. Gender fluidity is true freedom. Gender rigidness harms everyone.

I’m very tired of society believing that the only way to have worth is to be productive. Even many non-disabled people are starting to understand that constantly being productive isn’t sustainable anymore. Disabled people are proof that you have worth even if you don’t have a job.

Mike Johnson: what a little bitch.

Every time I unwillingly see a photo of Mike Johnson I think ā€œwhat a little bitch.ā€ Look at that face. Such a little bitch face.

No one prepared me for how interminably boring it would be having chronic illnesses and disabilities. Aside from the long periods of inactivity and the reduced capacity for socialising, nothing is more dull than perpetually seeking new ways to make the most marginal gains in everyday health.

THE REPLICATORS ARE TURNING ALL HOT COFFEE ORDERS TO FROZEN AND ALL FROZEN COFFEE ORDERS TO HOT AND MISSPELLING EVERYONE’S NAME AND HURLING THEM ALL ACROSS THE PROMENADE

Dear @orbette.bsky.social and @imanibarbarin.bsky.social, your energy alone is great, but together in my feed like this? An unbeatable force.
