I see people saying this sort of thing often, and quite frankly it makes me sad. The truth is, more people are making good adventure games now than were ever made during the “golden age” of the 90s. For example: 🧵

There's nothing like writing a book in the age of AI to illustrate what a total disaster it has been for looking things up on the Internet. When I started writing this 18 months ago it was easy to check very specific information; now every query turns up several paragraphs of outright fabrication

Tell you what, my knowledge of obscure Nintendo lore is being tested to the absolute limit by my children's ceaseless random questions during the Mario movie

Avowed: a good game! Particularly enjoyed the weirdness of the world. One time I traded a mystic a magic rock to remove one of my troubling memories. One companion looks like an Ewok by way of Avatar. Was worn down by the combat repetition but still worth a play www.theguardian.com/games/2025/f...

INSIDE but you're an octopus? Alright I'll bite youtu.be/TbgsjUFIBOw?...

Oh hell yes to all of this

“No company in their right mind would tangle with Mr Ford’s team, or the bad optics of replicating him without any consent or compensation... But that’s what the bargaining group is trying to get away with for workaday [video game] actors.” @selmaleh.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/games/2025/f...

When education is not liberating, the dream of the oppressed is to become the oppressor

he’s so mad we clocked his fake gamer tea

Every time I see an American telling people not to "yuck someone else's yum" I mentally replace it with the (imo) much better British phrase: don't piss on anyone's chips

Whatever date Bioware said they'd change the Mass Effect 3 ending on.

"The internet has conditioned us to constantly seek new information, as if becoming a sponge of bad news will eventually yield the final piece of a puzzle." www.404media.co/you-cant-pos...

Very excited for this book

Severance is millennial Twin Peaks. I will be taking no questions at this time

Most of the world’s brightest minds are hard at work developing new ways for you to get depression from a computer

The moment many families have waited for has arrived. Or has it? Me and @mackeza.bsky.social talked through the slightly muted response from their children so far on the latest episode of Spawnpoint for @crossplayblog.bsky.social www.crossplay.news/p/spawnpoint...

ON: Volume One Special Edition. To celebrate Keza MacDonald’s @mackeza.bsky.social feature on the games that changed Nintendo, we have produced this Zelda / EarthBound Special Edition cover and slipcase. It's available to preorder now and will be shipping in spring 2025. on.games/zelda

I spoke to a bunch of devs about the recent "slop" epidemic on the Nintendo eshop and PS Store - why and how it's happening, what platform holders could do about it, and why tighter restrictions could be bad for indies: www.ign.com/articles/i-c...

What did you just call me?

Not sure what I was on 5 years ago when I called The Sims a post-literate utopia but do you know what, I'll stand by it www.theguardian.com/games/2020/j...

classic Loony Tunes have much to teach us about class solidarity

Tormented today by the memory of a not even particularly funny 20-year-old meme that won't get out of my head. PowerWash Simulator should do a Psychonauts collab where you're hosing all the internet-induced psychic damage off the crevices of people's brains

FINALLY I can delete this app
