Of the last 5 Senate-confirmed SecDefs (Austin, Esper, Mattis, Carter, Hagel) 4 are frontline combat veterans. Three were decorated for valor and one was 2x wounded. So spare me this hero costume shit. Funnily enough many people would agree the best of those 5 was civvie-4-life Ash Carter.

I dislike Ron DeSantis almost as much as Donald Trump, but he would be an acceptable Secretary of DOD. Military experience, Congressional experience, two term big state Governor. But I’ll be surprised if he gets the nod because he is, after all, Ron eww DeSantis.
