Calling it red tape is polite. It was ideologic, economic sabotage of a growing, successful renewable energy industry that was seen as a threat to conventional energy investment and power generation by Premier Danielle Smith and those in her office. Their political interference knows no bounds.

Some days you just wanna give up , let everything go and follow the light inside of a red cabbage

ottawa mentioned we're already dead

Photographed in colour 116 years ago, I have enhanced this shot of Andrée & Suzanne Lumière in 1909. They were the daughters of the The Lumière brothers, Auguste & Louis, who had commercially released their autochrome colour photo process 2 years previously. It is original colour, not colourised.

The vote split is familiar. Deamalgate or (more realistically) adopt a borough system.

If a pipeline is so critical, the industry can pay for it. Canada already owns a pipeline. Also the emissions cap needs to stay, it's low hanging fruit.

In my long personal experience doing research, it is frequently more interesting and rewarding to search through physical media because there are often books and articles next to the thing you were looking for that are just as useful. Fast online keyword searches eliminate much of that serendipity.

Am I the only one who finds it slightly galling that premiers are pitching major projects to an open-eared prime minister right now -- including pipelines -- as a province burns around them and people are forced to evacuate????? As a result of wildfires which are exacerbated by climate change???

We've been campaigning to get misleading fossil fuel advertisements banned from city property for years. It's disappointing staff aren't willing to recommend bold action in the face of a climate emergency, but this won't stop our advocacy on this issue! www.ctvnews.ca/ottawa/artic...

The threat of Trump's chaos does not change the fact that climate change is still humanity's greatest challenge. The only way to fix that is to stop burning fossil fuel.

Did you know last month was the 25th anniversary of the Walkerton water contamination tragedy? Anyway, sorry, you were saying something about the need to deregulate environmental approvals to "build Canada"..?

My navy loses a fleet of ships to a country without a navy. My air force loses 40+ bombers in a morning to a country without an air force My army controls less of Ukraine now than it did 3 years ago. But we're winning.

There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd. It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

Tewin should not happen, instead Ottawa needs to enable more densification in existing neighbourhoods. “A city councillor wants council to revisit its 2021 decision to bring Tewin lands into Ottawa’s urban boundary, a move she says was rushed, costly…” ottawacitizen.com/news/city-co...

Something spicy & delicious as a taco has gotten under Trumplestiltkin's thin tangerine skin. Seems the master of mean, juvenile nicknames can dish them out but when directed towards him, he can't take it, angrily calling it "nasty."🤣 Good to know. (you know what to do!) 🌮🌮 🌮🌮 🌮🌮 🌮🌮 🌮🌮 🌮🌮 🌮🌮 🌮🌮 🌮

everyone points and laughs about how the weird, politically deranged rich guy's space company exists to make exploding rocket ships but nobody ever gives them credit for how many rocket ships they manage to explode.

The Centretown Community Association has sent a letter on the draft Transportation Master Plan not meeting the needs of urban residents. "It will make the lives of those who live and work here less affordable, less accessible, and less safe." @mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social @arieltroster.com

Whether on Elgin, or Bank, or Somerset, or Wellington, or Preston, or in much of Byward Market, how could this not benefit Ottawa? As does Montreal, the closures are from May - October. Businesses, neighbourhoods, and people would thrive. Public space would actually be public space!

As the PM and King head to the War Memorial, always remember Pierre Poilievre bought donuts for the people who urinated on it. #cdnpoli

More people were shot and killed in America over Memorial Day weekend than are killed by guns in Japan and the UK combined during an average year. It’s not DEI, drag shows, or library books that caused that. It’s guns. It’s always the guns.

Canada will fight the Trump administration every step of the way. But we have always had good relations with the American people who visit our communities. You are always welcome. We just don't like the predator in chief. www.cnn.com/2025/05/27/t...

Just because I haven't any other word about the Ottawa Charge today, they just scored to tie it in the third period. Early game start

“Without widespread theft, my industry can’t survive” is an argument against your industry surviving, and is not an argument for allowing widespread theft

This is why the pipeline is useless. By the time it's finished, demand in Europe will be almost non-existent. They must learn to diversify. oilprice.com/Energy/Natur...

Ottawa Charge fans, A reminder that puck drop today for Game 3 is at 5:00pm EST and is available on TSN up here in Canada (YouTube and the league’s website in the US). #PWHL

We should burn one hundred trillion cubic feet of natural gas to see if that changes anything though

this is a waste of this expensive infrastructure that we built

It is indeed a well curated space. Too bad it's behind a security barrier now. I'm unlikely to just pop in to City Hall any longer. @arieltroster.com
