Thanks! :) Yeah the most concerning aspect is definitely if people have very centralised accounts (SSO, PassKeys, etc)- that’d be significantly worse than this, which was more just a social lockout rather than losing access to a vast majority of online systems

madelinemiller.dev/blog/ I write about a mix of web development, general tech industry stuff, and things related to Minecraft modding 😅 Although I do per-category RSS after someone requested a way to segment stuff

There’s nothing the police could really do here, especially given I live in Australia

they’re not a hacker, they just reported accounts (and me to the FBI) from my understanding. i can’t really sue some random anonymous Discord user, and there’s nothing to really sue them for..? the point of suing Meta is to get the accounts back, as that’s seemingly their method of customer service

i’ve heard bad things in other game communities too, but the MC one does seem to trend younger which can be an issue sometimes :/ in this case, we had builds up for ages, but were waiting on all supported platforms to release before publishing a full build on Modrinth etc- so we weren’t even slow

The worst part is also that the multiple Meta engineers I’ve been in contact with either directly or indirectly have basically told me the only way to appeal it is to fly to the US and sue Meta in Californian small claims courts, because they ignore Australian summons. Like wtf

the main issue is wikipedia has a rule that only neutral third parties can edit pages, which would heavily limit the people actually motivated to write these things

i was referring to the two specifically named sections, the page itself has a bunch of other mods mentioned because it’s an entire page on MC modding. the two things with an actual titled header are “WorldEdit” and “Malware”, which is an extremely odd choice from the page editors

i feel it kinda makes sense tbh. kids wanting to use the mods they see on youtube/etc, and searching it in the place they’re used to downloading things from (given it likely targeted bedrock users on Android)

many fixes during beta cycles are fixes for issues in prior betas, and therefore not relevant for those updating to only stable versions. it’s so hard to find the actual relevant changes when they’re split up like this

this was honestly such a weird process, having never looked into eBook publishing before. it was surprisingly much less streamlined than submitting mobile apps to the two platforms, maybe because very few developers are self-publishing eBooks and don't notice the issues

yeah i do love the increasing accessibility in games lately i’m not sure if it’s just games i play, as i don’t play too many these days, but i seem to hit it a lot 😅 Tomb Raider definitive edition was super bad for it, and Indiana Jones i’m only able to play when i’m at my motion sickness baseline

or “history | grep something” when you’re really desperate lol

no, sadly i’ve had to take a super hardline stance with not helping people in DMs, due to too many people either taking advantage of my time by doing that, or using it as an entry to become creepy/harass me. i only provide support in the public discord channels
