A professor I had in grad school once proudly told us a story about how he harassed some low wage bank worker on campus. The bank worker has a sign that said “free gift” if you opened a checking account and the prof was badgering this person because gifts are by definition free. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I really wish I had spent my undergrad and initial years in grad school learning more Foucault and Marx and less Jerry Fodor and Jaegwon Kim. Hard to see a world where I’m ever doing metaphysics of mind again
