idk. i mentioned before that playing through demons roots was like me playing through dq9 as a kid and i still stand by that statement.
there’s an awesome amount of scale and joy that went into this game - esp for an rpgm title. for me it’s the game equivalent of eating a comforting, hot meal.

this isn't to say "criticism bad" btw. i think it's important - vital even - as an artist and storyteller to be exposed to people who disagree with or dislike your work.
but it shouldn't have to resort to name-calling and bad-faith reads of your personal character.

like speaking for myself here. my game "bad faith" was my unofficial capstone project for uni (bc i was never accepted into its senior thesis program. i was on my own with it.)
it's rough around the edges compared to the violence series. but it was the first time i felt like i said Something.

there's more i could say on... my complex feelings about it as a whole. esp as someone with a longtime otaku/queer bg.
but i don't feel comfortable talking about indie media made by young artists in the same way that i'd talk about work by established creators like sean baker or denis villeneuve

i'd chalk it down to the limited runtime and the less strong live-action scenes... the script and acting was pretty weak for me.
but the solo scenes did capture that sense of isolation. being in the dark and surrounding yourself by the glow of the blue light. i was there back when i was in uni.
