Newham has the highest proportion of residents in TA by far. For every 1,000 households in the borough, 52 are homeless and living in TA.
But in just about every borough, the problem is acute.

Since 2011 the number of households in TA in London has increased significantly.
In 2023 – the last year we have full data for – 61,000 households were in TA, almost 50% higher than a decade earlier.
The data from the first half of 2024 suggests this is set to increase again.

We have not seen any detail on action taken. On the contrary - our family support team still seeing financial support withheld causing destitution; mum with a toddler and baby sent to the police station rather than given timely emergency housing.
#alloutchildren need protection from neglect.

It is not OK that so many mums and dads are unable to treat their children and families in a way that reflects traditions, family and beliefs.
The emotional and physical damage is immense.
Please lets ask for change. Sign our petition that no child be housed without a kitchen.

Thousands of families cannot invite anyone over to share the day. When you have no kitchen, no table, no chairs - it is a lonely and a hungry Christmas.

Day 3 to 14
*Given no subsistence payments.
* Now 2 weeks without any money in a place she does not know and has no social connections.
*Not eating, running out of phone data, unsure of where to turn next.

Day 2
* Beckton Road all day, with toddler and baby, given a hotel for one night told to come back the next day.
Day 3
* Returned to Beckton road for second full day of questions.
* Given the keys to a place at 8.30pm with no travel money around 2 hours out of town.
