After I left the US in 2006, I intended to pay in a few more credits to Social Security so I could be eligible for a pension. I think I'm 1 year short or something like that. Not sure I'll bother now. I'm eligible for UK pension now and I'll just do that one instead of US. Bah. Bah humbug.

Something keeps lifting up berry netting to get to my king stropharia mushroom mycelium patch. Rat? Squirrel? Fox? Cat? What animal eats #mycelium? They dig past the woodchips and go straight in. They're also getting a dose of nematodes I applied to kill slugs.

Hellebore, snowdrops, crocus, daffodils, cherry blossoms, and giant allium have made themselves known. Rhubarb, Japanese maple, and potatoes are still hiding. I've poured boiling water all over the out of control ferns. Wild garlic is in my morning eggs.

I will forget later so I'll list here what I planted in the windowsill gardens today. Tomatillos, tomatoes, spring onions, cucumber, chives, rocket, lettuce (leaf), lettuce (head). I wish I had more windowsill room. I will do more when the lettuce goes out. I might try pumpkins again.

Boring garden update number 3. The carrots I planted during lock down have suddenly appeared. The raspberries thrived through last summer when I was unable to garden. The decorative potato vines can't hold their own weight and need to go now. The bees love them though.

Boring garden update. Today I removed more gravel. I've worked to remove gravel from the back garden for 13 years. The last of the suffocating tarpulin below it has also been removed as of today. I sifted the dirt to get the gravel and put it in bags. I fill the neighbor's potholes with it.

I spent 3 hours gardening today and I can barely move. I feel like I've run a marathon. Swept the stairs, pruned vines, dug up a willow tree (the roots omg), and fern root balls. I hate ivy, blackberries, cat poo, horsetails, sycamores, and cheap British horizontal and thin fencing.
