I genuinely do. I research ownership of the places I shop, from groceries to hardware. My grocery store is regional, with just 7 locations, headquartered in a neighboring county. My local Ace Hardware is owned by a local guy named Bruce. He owns 2 Ace’s. If we shop corporate, we do it at Costco.

So far today: local coffee stand, gift shop, bead shop, two bookstores, games/puzzles and now enjoying lunch at a local deli.

It is abundantly clear he thinks of them as somehow “less”! How does someone like that achieve an elected position?
I guess my naïveté is in full evidence along with the white privilege I do not deserve.

With a bit of research, it can happen. Local, regional, responsible. I’ve been on this mission since covid. I’m a small business owner and we’re barely scraping by when we were successful for a decade …
I also like seeing our cities and towns still HAVING small businesses.
They may not survive!

Exactly why I’ve posting about ways to do just that:
Move money out of big banks to local credit unions
Buy as much as possible with cash and with small, locally owned or known responsible vendors
Our wallets are powerful!
