I have a nearly 3000 mile Civil Rights road trip planned for later this year… Now I fear I’ve waited too long to make the trip? I truly hope not…

Carter: "I say to you … that the time for racial discrimination is over…”
Stephens: “its corner-stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery-subordination to the superior race-is his natural and normal condition.”
Should be an easy choice in 2025!

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony 🧜♀️🗡️

That is the look of a person who regrets every life choice that brought them to this moment… Perhaps the road to happiness and self-actualization is not paved with demeaning, depraved, soul-sucking patronage positions?

You will find links to the transcripts of the Nicolay and Hay drafts here:

Depending on which version you seek - those repositories have online transcripts of their individual copies. The Nicolay copy is generally believed to be the copy from which he read on November 19, 1863.

There are 5 copies of the Gettysburg Address, none of which are housed at the National Archives. The Library of Congress is home to both the Hay and Nicolay copies. The Bancroft copy is at Cornell. The Everett Copy at the Lincoln Presidential Library. The Bliss copy rests in the White House.

My generation has never gotten over Pluto no longer being a planet - no way we’re renaming the Gulf of Mexico!
