The Syrian National Dialogue Conference will take place on February 25. Discussions on the constitution, institutional reform, and the economy are expected to be had. According to committee members, consultations across the country took place last week, engaging 4,000 Syrians in the process.

Praying for his full recovery. ❤️‍🩹 Throughout his tenure, Pope Francis has used his platform to put humanity first and above all else at a time during which many other prominent religious, political, and community leaders have failed to do so.

Thirteen years ago today, on February 22, 2012, the Assad regime assassinated American journalist Marie Colvin & French photographer Rémi Ochlik in a targeted attack in Homs, Syria. They were, at the time, working to share the stories of Syrian civilians living under siege in Homs.

⭐️ It's been such a difficult time for so many committed to making this world a better place. Doug Christensen and I are teaming up to curate a resource for those on the job hunt -- particularly those affected by what's happening in the policy, civil society, and humanitarian spaces.

مقال جديد من @mohanedelnour.bsky.social، زميل معهد التحرير. timep.org/post-arabic/...

This is 11 year old Jocelynn Rojo Carranza of Gainesville, Texas. She took her life after fellow students repeatedly bullied her about her family's immigration status and threatened to call ICE. The school was aware but never notified her family. Rest in peace, little angel.

Lebanon has a government (not a caretaker one) for the first time in two years. What are five key issues it should prioritize? A MUST-READ from Zeead Yaghi on the ceasefire with Israel, financial reforms, reconstruction, judicial reforms & relations with the new Syrian government.

"One of Bouvier's lawyers, Matthieu Bagard, said the new probe "opens the door to treat a certain number of procedures against journalists in armed conflict zones as crimes against humanity"." Netanyahu, you might want to pay attention.

🎉 Happy 12th birthday @timep.bsky.social! Here's to the cheerleaders, fellows, staff, interns, and partners across the years who've truly made TIMEP a home for alternate policies for and from the region. Thank you @ramyyaacoub.bsky.social for founding this haven and for entrusting us with it.

Inspired by the changemakers who peacefully took to the streets in 2011 across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and who have continued to take to the streets, online, and in diaspora and exile since, TIMEP was founded twelve years ago today, on February 14, 2013.

⚖️ Big news from the courts tonight as Judge Amir Ali has paused Trump's foreign aid freeze affecting contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, and other awards including across USAID and the State Department in existence as of January 19, 2025.

"The administration's attack on USAID has cut off lifesaving support including food, water, medicine, sanitation, and more and is already having life or death consequences for millions around the world." New lawsuit to defend USAID: www.oxfamamerica.org/press/oxfam-...

After 54 years of brutal Assad regime rule and 14 years of war, Syrians deserve to be able to re-envision and rebuild a Syria for all Syrians. The only way to do so is for sectoral sanctions to be lifted. As the Trump admin sets its Syria policy, this must be a top priority.

TIMEP joined 161 Syrian and international organizations urging President Trump, Secretary Rubio, Treasury Department, members of Congress & others to relieve sanctions on Syria. For a successful economic recovery and political transition, sanctions on Syria must be lifted timep.org/2025/02/13/a...

⭐️ Ali Noureddeen has only been with @timep.bsky.social for a month and he already has a MUST-READ piece out on the new Lebanese government and what this moment may mean for political and economic reform prospects. Don't miss it!

There is almost no one who has created more damage to the MENA region vis-a-vis US foreign policy than Brett McGurk. Absolute insanity to see him join Harvard's Belfast Center and see his bio celebrate and re-write his legacy of harm to the region www.belfercenter.org/belfer-news/...

Ten years ago yesterday, on February 10, 2015, three young Muslims--23 year old Deah Barakat, 21 year old Yusor Abu-Salha, and 19 year old Razan Abu-Salha--were shot to death in their home, in what came to be known as the Chapel Hill Shooting. Thinking of their loved ones today.

BREAKING: We are suing DOGE and the Office of Personnel Management to stop the brazen and illegal data sharing of federal employee data with the “government efficiency” group.

May we never forget the role of the mainstream media industry in normalizing and white washing mass atrocities. What international lawyers call ethnic cleansing and forced displacement, the @nytimes.com calls a "Gaza development plan."
