Remember that the standard for use of deadly force is *preposterously* favorable to the cop, and that juries are extremely resistant to ever finding cops guilty. Police can shoot you for absolutely no reason and half the jurors in the box will come in thinking you must have deserved it.

Bad sign for the Ahmaud Arbery federal prosecution, in which the feds relied upon the fact that the killers' trucks were instrumentalities of interstate commerce to support the attempted kidnapping charges. The 11th Circuit held oral arguments on 3/27/2024 and it's been out a loooong time.

There's no need for Trump to even pardon Boelter now that there is no such thing as DOJ independence thanks to the presidential immunity decision. Now, the president can just... tell the DOJ not to prosecute someone (which is what happened with Eric Adams). That would never have happened before.
