Marxists?? The shooter is a straight up Trump supporting, republican, evangelical, violence-oriented white male. How do you get “Marxist” out of that toxic soup- unless you don’t know the meaning of the word and are just trying to smear and deflect?

A lot of my relationships have generated a dad/offspring dynamic. And it's never been because that's what I was seeking... it just seems like people who were looking for that, found it in me. It's always been a little baffling to me... but rewarding as well.

I love the joke about how the word for 'lover' in Finnish means, "the one I don't hate as much as all the others."*
That sums up how I feel about the Democratic party. If I could do better, I would. But if it's the best we've got, then it should do a *lot* better.
(*not literally true)

My 80 year old stepmom watches broadcast news, though mostly leaning towards PBS programs.
I'm 63 and consider it all mostly garbage and fluff or propaganda lite. So much useless both-sides "objectivity". Get my news from lots of online sources, including here.

I think it's also social media fyi. I think people think of it just got the utes but I'm not that young, i don't watch TV news and I'm increasingly tuning out traditional big news outlets. My media habits are more in line with Gen Z and I suspect I'm not the only one.

The evidence is mounting that the median liberal American has a wildly different understanding of where we are as a country than the median Democratic politician, and that those two understandings are simply incompatible with each other.

I like to think I hate what he does, which I definitely do, rather than hate the person.
That way, at least, I can pretend to be a better human being.
But, in the end, it's just semantics.
The actual feelings are the same.

Just imagine the NYT or WaPo saying it plainly—Trump’s birthday parade was a meager spectacle for an infantile, would-be tyrant, and the protests everywhere else were celebrations of a country we still wish to see governed under the Constitution.
Impossible. Those quisling editors merit our hatred.

I read this same kind of op-ed like 5 times a year about how private developers can't afford to build affordable housing, and the conclusion drawn is always that housing should simply stop being affordable.
Slavish devotion at the altar of privatization turns so many people into fucking clowns.

Time to deploy the Army to defend LAPD from LASD. And the Navy to defend LASD from LAPD.

This is a point I think we need to make more actually because I think that even if I were "Gender Critical" I'd be able to recognise that Joanne is just a really fucking nasty piece of work. Spiteful, vindictive, petty. Just absolutely rancid.

Apparently none of us realized that the true villainy of Valdemort was his disinterest in the genitalia of children. Authorial intent's a bitch to decipher, I guess.

She is the most radical -- in a very good way -- politician to come along in decades. She is a shining light and progressives' way forward. Rest assured, her political career will not hang on her endorsement in the NY mayor's race. #Mamdani1Lander2 #NoCuomo #AOC2028

"The end comes no matter what, the only thing that matters is how do you wanna go out, on your feet or on your knees? I bring that lesson to this job. I act, knowing that someday this job will end, no matter what. You should do the same."

The best advice I can offer people is to stop expecting wealth class owned media and wealth class owned politicians to snap out of it. They’re doing exactly what they’re supposed to do.
It’s our work to accomplish and it will happen organically. Sorry that there aren’t shortcuts. It’s on us.

You offered an opinion and got some responses that unambiguously disagreed with it.
Is that really all it takes for you to claim victimhood?
