Father Bernard Sander? My dad knew him when he (my dad) was a student at Mt. Angel's seminary-prep high school and they stayed in touch until Father Bernard passed. (Dad didn't continue on to the seminary itself, it was generally decided that he wasn't cut out for the priesthood...)

This is even more egregiously "every accusation is an admission" than usual.

Lifelong recovering Catholic here and I shout-laughed so hard at this that I scared my spouse AND my cat! 🤣

Made up *horse* shit.

The only cat I've ever had that did this was a young female. None of the older females did it (there was one who sang the blues every night about midnight, but she didn't drag anything around).

Yeah, I've been assuming that this nonsense is just him projecting.

Yeah, not looking forward to going back to my grandma's habit of cooking the shit out of everything, but looking forward to constant puking etc. even less...😨

Also from pets - my dad used to get it something fierce when his cat would bring it in on her fur. My mom (who didn't react) had to wipe down the cat with a towel every time she came in from outside to prevent it. Also, dogs and horses are big vectors.

I'm totally down with WA, OR and CA becoming the Pacifica Province.

Is she picking up that side-eye action from the corgis or did she come pre-equipped with it?

Whoops, forgot alt-text: A small blue dragon wearing Easter bunny ears and carrying a red and white decorated Easter egg runs past a pile of decorated Easter eggs with children hunting for Easter eggs in the background.

Excellent. Perhaps next he can sign a memorandum aimed at getting the sun to rise in the east. Why stop at replicating existing laws when you can replicate physics? 🙄

Is it working? It never works for me.

I once had two cats who ate the same food in bowls a few feet apart. Cat 1 would wait for Cat 2 to pick a bowl, then charge in and body-slam Cat 2 away. Cat 2 would basically shrug and walk over to the other bowl, while Cat 1 gloated about "winning." Every damn time I fed them.

Sorry I messed you up, that's what I get for trying to be clever. I hope at least it wasn't a full asshole-fail. 😟

At least it's not as bad as members of the mo-ist cult. NOBODY likes them... 😱

Ah, this brings back fond memories of living in Anchorage and the frequent phone calls that someone was going to be late bc moose in driveway (everyone just had to hope that it didn't decide to take a nap).

I adopted a stray cat in college and my folks took him until I could get an off-campus apt. One day I got a call that he had slaughtered an entire nest of baby hares. I assured them that was good, bc if the hares had grown up, they would have devoured the garden. Parents were NOT comforted.

No, it's pronounced "koler" - just one of those weird medieval transliterations from Greek ("kholer" would be a better transliteration, but then we'd have Jesus Khrist and omg can you imagine the screaming? 😂 ).
comment in response to post
I like your translation. I might have chosen "choler" as the word for anger, but it has the major disadvantage of being a much more obscure word.

Thank you, Senator. I hope you and your fellow Democrats continue to use this tactic to obstruct the destruction of our Constitution and our democracy.

The word she's looking for is "ignorant." Ignorant mistake.

In no particular order: sports, a vastly expanded administrator class, massively inflated salaries for top-tier administrators.

That sounds like a great idea to me. I hope this doesn't sound like advice, I just want to support you doing whatever you need to keep healthy and avoid burnout.

As someone who actually is "lead-brained" (born in an Idaho town infamous for its lead pollution, then was fully grown before leaded gas was banned), I resent being lumped with people whose problem isn't lead-induced cognitive impairment, it's that they're assholes.

A long time ago I worked for a very small bakery where a new baker forgot to add salt to the croissant dough. I remember thinking "how bad could it be?" Wow, fastest gustatory education *ever*!

I absolutely believe this is true. I had one who loved to play tricks on me, his favorite was to yank my mitten off (heavy duty ski mitten, it gets cold in AK in winter) and trot off with it, head high and tail flagged, clearly delighted with the game, staying just ahead of me as I chased him. 😂

Same. When my dad died, the payments stopped IMMEDIATELY and I had to pay back part of the last payment. The only way to scam the system is if the recipient dies at home and NO ONE knows that they're gone. Everybody (hospitals, funeral homes, police, etc.) is required to report deaths to the gov't.

I just read one where the quality of writing was all over the place. It had 3 main characters and the chapters alternated between each one's POV. Then I stumbled onto the "About the Authors" section and found my answer - 3 writers (sharing a single pen name), each wrote one of the MCs.

Worse, spending their entire lives under those umbrellas has made them decide that rain doesn't exist. I'd enjoy the "finding out" phase more if we weren't being dragged along for the ride. I've done my best to prepare a rain coat, but there's only so much you can do against a typhoon...

Sounds right. I once lived near a tree with 3 GHO owlets and my god, the area under the tree was a horror show. "OK, what bird did this single wing come from, and this looks like a mammal leg, any idea which one?" No heads though, owls seem to really like heads.

I grew up in Alaska and can NOT watch anything supposedly "set" in AK. Sometimes they sneak up on me tho, recently it was Stranger Things where they went to "Nome", with a beautiful view of snowcapped mountains. No mountains near Nome, they filmed it in New Mexico... <smdh>
