To be honest Chris, I kind of enjoy our split personality. It means “real” Newcastle are back, the team were bereft of during the Ashley years. It also means we’re trying. And that’s all we ever really want. Because if we weren’t trying, we’d not care enough to be worried by 2nd half’s like today

Newcastle moved him on far too soon. I think he was more appreciated by supporters than certain management. He was an absolute colossus for Northern Ireland right up until Euro 2016. And he was a gentleman too.

That I am now playing in teams with the kids of guys who I played with when I was a kid. Most of whom weren’t even thought of when I was turning out with their dads years ago. Good chance of ticking off my first grandad, dad, son treble if I can eek a few more seasons out!
