6. Hotshot, Clare Lydon This is a tough review. Some chapters I enjoyed. Some less. I liked the characters enough, but something felt off about them both. Also those locker room speeches would not pump me up to play. At all. 3/5

I got mad at someone yesterday for putting this in our news. Just let me continue thinking this seal is living a happy life!

5. Falling Hard, Jae I enjoyed this. It was an easy, gentle story, nothing high stakes. I found the characters likable. Made me want to get ice cream. 4/5

4. Heir of Fire, Sarah J Maas This installment takes Calaena to new lands and new characters and has a different feel from the previous part of the story and I loved every page of it. 5/5

I really recommend this one but it’s 8 books so a definite commitment only when you have the time or aren’t in another series

The anticipatory grief of it all is a real rollercoaster. And every time the phone goes off, your heart speeds up and drops a bit before you look at the screen.

3. The Assassin’s Blade, Sarah J Maas. This is the prequel to the ToG series. As annoyed as I was to interrupt the story for a prequel, the internet was very correct about the read order. It wouldn’t have been as good or added to later story anywhere else. 4/5

2. Love, Loss, and What We Ate, Padma Lakshmi This was a journey. I laughed. I sort of cried. I made confused faces. I didn’t love the way it jumped around through time. I still enjoy her. 3/5

1. Crown of Midnight, Sarah J Maas Book 2 in the Throne of Glass series. I got that book some years ago when Nicole Maines said Katie McGrath gave it to her. I was never quite in the mood for it, but now I’m obsessed. This has been my least fav of the series so far and it still gets a 4.5/5

There was a moment with a jammed paper towel dispenser that was also amusing
