It’s been widely reported that Congressional phone lines have been blowing up for a month. Calls are good, but nowhere near being the actual solution. I’m not sure what the solution is but protests in the streets and shutting things down come to mind.

Yes. But the problem is all the Republicans enabling him.

The NY Post is a conservative rag, fully part of the MAGA media universe

4/8. It’s also precisely the kind of thing that institutions of learning are meant to do on larger scales—to create and share knowledge that improves the lives of people around them. They are responsible for *making* the kinds of citizens that make democracy flourish. www.nytimes.com/2022/09/01/o...

While I see the little win the fact that they already had access and can still see our information pisses me off. They should have ZERO visibility. I would be in jail if I did what these fuckers did. I expect equal treatment for these billionaire and their bitch boys.

I disagree. Visible, public objection is important. It’s not the only thing needed, but it’s part of what’s needed. Staying quiet and invisible is the last thing we should do.

Trump is gunning for a war. He probably wants to play the big Commander in Chief, but also Americans tend to support wartime presidents (even when the wars are clearly stupid, pointless, and troops are dying in vain.)

Be like Schatz. Hold all nominees. Delay, drag things out, slow things down. Get our IT and payment systems out of Musk’s clutches. Get outside and lead protests.

I appreciate the efforts you made in the previous congressional session to bring attention to the shortage and call for increased staffing at the Austin airport.

Agreed, except I think people notice. They like it - they’re loving the unbridled racism and the permission to be racist. This post expresses it well: bsky.app/profile/hake...

The Biden administration and Congress started making good progress toward significantly increasing ATC trading and staffing. Sadly, MAGA will probably undo as much of that legislation and funding, just out of spite .
comment in response to post
You’re either misinformed or deliberately trying to spread misinformation. DEI hiring isn’t a significant factor in the ATC shortage (despite an anecdote or 2 you heard.) It’s a complex problem related to lack of trainers and training facilities, difficult skills needed, probably some bureaucracy.

Thank you. It’s hard for me personally to fight off cynicism and despair. I and others like me who are a bit Eyeore-ish benefit from your messages and encouragement.
