I’ve started almost exclusively shopping at second hand book shops or library book sales, on occasion I’ll buy from a local bookstore but it’s rare, just to feel less guilty when I end up hating a book 😂

That’s why you use your library card and just buy the books you love after the fact 🤭

Ohh I’m going to check out douyin 👀 I hit rednote and wasn’t feeling the set up off the jump

The fact that the only comment from TikTok is that this is fiction and they are still running the story feels quite a bit like rage bait… 🙄

They don’t have to bother blocking US users, they can just let the apps become obsolete when updates stop. Why give the US the option to make Bytedance look like an enemy?

It’s infuriating people still are ignoring this. The economy is good on paper but terrible for normal people living their day to day lives. Continuing to insist it’s all just great is going to keep eroding Dem support. Ugh.

I cancelled mine for this reason. Half the time things aren’t even cheaper than going to Target and there’s no membership required.

The fact he even has to say this.. 🙃

Where’s all the purists objecting to changing the names on confederate buildings now? I doubt we will hear a people for this change.

We’re back to this again? 🙄

So my question is: did Baldoni make Blake sarcastically joke about giving her address to people with ? about DV? Did he make her promote her hair care line during promotion for the movie? Cause that’s the “smear” we’re seeing. And newsflash, Blake’s rep is fine outside a small group on the internet.
comment in response to post
People just have eyes. Blake was sarcastic and rude throughout the press tour, her costars kept it light without being that way. Stop defending someone for being a rich asshole. Rich assholes are victims of abuse too, doesn’t make them decent people after the fact.

Colleen Hoover has some .. questionable history. I fully believe Hoover green-lit pushing the story as a romcom and Blake just took the sarcasm too far with that approach coupled with downplaying the DV 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s a bit frustrating that the complaint is both the very disturbing sexual harassment allegations and the smear campaign. Blake came out just fine with her rep, seems unnecessary to link that part in and it’s hurting the overall outlook of the complaint from what I’m seeing.

Again, I intentionally mentioned that the rest of the cast who kept a lighter tone did not handle it like Blake. Blake made many jokes that were sarcastic and felt like mocking any interviewers attempt at awareness. There’s a difference, she needs to own the press tour is on her.

There’s many clips of her doing press for other projects behaving in a similar manner, it just reeks of privilege and lack of consequence IMO. Part of acting in film and shows IS doing press. Thats also in their contract when choosing to take a role.

I hate that you’re probably right about that 🤢 definitely was a habit I had to break, I just move right to blocking these trolls. There’s zero value in them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Two things can be true. He can be awful and she also can be in a dif way. The rest of the cast kept a lighter tone but weren’t as flippant as Blake. She was incredibly tone deaf during press. Baldoni nailed the press part but man these allegations are BAD. Seems like he was trying to cover

I got a kick out of it, I suppose civil service nuances might be too niche for corporate people lol. Parks and Rec really nailed government work, I’m due for a rewatch

I figured! lol everything is defined in so much detail I got the joke you were going for 🤭

I’m assuming the other commenter was being hyperbolic, I personally bake for my coworkers all the time and have for the decade I’ve been a civil servant no problem.

There’s a lot of ethics rules around gifting to people. How strictly that is enforced varies by agency but the rule for NY state employees is no more than a $15 value gift can be accepted

The irony being those in rural areas that predominantly vote Trump would be hurt the most by this. USPS has to drive to these remote areas, private companies don’t. Get ready for either very high delivery fees or being forced to drive to a pick up location country folks.

Yeah I’m a civil servant, there’s no wine and dine happening lol

This is my feeling as well. My current work party, while during work hours, people will get a bit more dressed up for it (we get 4 hours to allot to going to the venue and attending). But there’s an expectation to network while there. It feels mandatory to attend and hurts the fun 😕

I think so too and it’s telling the few other replies immediately insult her. Even a broken clock is wrong twice a day, they say. Sometimes the simplest answer just is the answer. The question is what info are they gathering and why, in my opinion.
comment in response to post
Our party is during the work day (so on paid time). I’d much prefer that than the option to bring a spouse.

I was initially disappointed by AOC- more an advocate than a politician, two very different but important things. She’s really found her stride as a politician and seems to grow more each year. I think she’d be great in the role.

Relationships. We live in a society that requires us to lean on one another, and lately that feels lost. We can build and maintain it, it just needs a little help.

As silly as referencing a video game might been, is honestly a helpful reminder. I’ve already been making small changes to help build my own community, be it picking up trash on my walks or just helping a stranger when I can. But it’s an important reminder now, more than ever, to value and build

This commentary on individualism and the drain it places on society is particularly prescient as social media and a turn towards nationalistic views makes us feel more isolated than ever. If you’re like me and felt a bit disheartened by the state of the world lately, this storyline-
