There’s a cute term for some co pays - IGEL (hedgehog) - extra Services not covered by your normal insurance, voluntary add-ons. For example, gas that doesn’t bloat you for an endoscopy is three Euros. My gastro donates this to a local fund for Ukrainian refugees

Yes in Germany. It depends on the tariff you are on and your insurer. For example, because I have a benign mass in one of my breasts, I don’t have to pay for ultrasound screening of that one. But I do have to pay for ultrasound of the other.

I know of a family that has lived here for generations. Do lots of charity work, have lots of members in the armed forces, own businesses that employ hundreds. Even changed the family name to Windsor and still get called German!
