Wellness shots to kick off SGF featuring @ashleybardhan.bsky.social

Following last night’s IO Interactive Showcase, I chatted with IO CCO Christian Elverdam about how the team is deco structing both Bond and its own skill set to make a 007 game that cuts against expectations. www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/007-f...

This year's Summer Games Fest presentation was really concerned with how few people made a lot of those games, huh? It feels kinda fucked up. Not just because they're often misrepresntating the real size of these teams, but because I think it's playing directly into a new(ish) flavour of dev hate.

Okay I did it: I tried to meet Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour where it is as a piece of edutainment. I think it’s effective as that in the same vein as Game Builder Garage. Genuinely informative! But the fact that it’s paid has only gotten more absurd to me. www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/ninte...

I played Marvel’s Deadpool VR ahead of its announcement. It’s an impressively fluid action game that really gets the most out of VR. Cool stuff for Twisted Pixel’s Meta debut. www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/marve...

I loved the first Splitgate, but really have to say that the messaging of “I don’t want to play the same Call of Duty every year, so I made a sequel to a game that is largely a Halo ode” isn’t a a very good sales pitch.

That was…. A very brutal Summer Game Fest. I think the show has always walked a very fine line between dropping announcements that are legitimately neat and just showcasing whoever has enough money to buy ad space. I felt a lot more of the latter this year and it just made for a slog.

GEOFF PLEASE STOP

You can always tell when Keighley doesn’t have a ton of AAA announcements for his shows. The guy knows how to control a narrative.

Mario Kart World’s free roam is a neat idea but I think it’s really let down by having every reward be a sticker. Lot of effort for little gain! Feel like locking character costumes behind activities could have been more impactful.

When we talked about bringing Game Informer back, we brainstormed ways we could use our resurrection as a way to make the world a better place even outside of gaming. Our answer? Giving a cut of our subscription proceeds to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Currently using the Nintendo Switch Camera in a work meeting lol

Very good review of Welcome Tour I don’t have a problem with a company charging for a game just because the game is about its hardware and not about dragons or cars But locking off some of it to people who own relevant accessories is disappointing, especially with the game hyping those purchases

MODS ARE ASLEEP, POST ROB HOG

I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna write a Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour review.

Summer Game Fest, you will never kill me.

LMFAO OK GUYS

Figured I’d spend the flight across the country playing Mario Kart, but dead ass played Welcome Tour for like 5 hours instead.

Small thing about Mario Kart World: unlockables! Love ‘em! Welcome back! Proper country!

Updated with a statement from Nintendo. Developers have the option to disable screen sharing on their games.

It’s sappy, but it’s genuinely nice to have even the briefest moment of good vibes where a lot of people seem excited about SOMETHING. Just seeing some people secure their Switches and having that Christmas morning energy… idk it’s sweet, sue me!

okay you weren’t supposed to write that part

Walked into three stores today and not a single one had microSD express cards. Most people didn’t even know what I was talking about. Think that’s going to confuse the hell out of people more than anything with Switch 2.
