I’d say that the tradition is very much reliant on the context it’s used in. This is a pre-watershed light entertainment show that featured someone telling a story about an injured hand, with the salute performed by a children’s author on a show the audience for their books could watch.

Honestly, you can decide whether this is about the race riot in Ballymena, the race riots across Britain last year, or the actions of the LAPD and ICE in Los Angeles right now. It seems reasonably applicable to all of them, to be honest.

Honestly, I’m fine if the games are also scattershot, given that the reason the films are like that is because they take a lot of chances on new filmmakers and lower budget projects that the bigger studios are just unwilling to support. I’m fine with hit-and-miss for the support of the art.

Possibly worth mentioning, it’s the EHRC (Equality and Human Rights Commission), not the ECHR (European Court of Human Rights). Both completely different things, in a way that definitely isn’t at all confusing.
