He had to now - he single handedly shifted to right populist talking points and led his party to the 2nd worst result ever all while being absolutely excoriated in public.

It's real. Or was. Last years state level election in Brandenburg, police was ordered to take them down after complaints by Linke politicians.

They are strongest in urban centers atm with a typically very cosmopolitan & diverse base and activist core. Even if a lot of media and political antagnosists still play up the old soviet angle, it plays basically no role in every day interactions. Peace & foreign policy is still iffy but changing

Interesting that considering the very AfD friendly media environment and public discourse, they actually sort of underperformed

Hard to gauge. Doubt it had any real impact on the Linke result, other more important factors there. Musks impact more general by creating beneficial media environment for AfD.

Nearly 50% for populist right (cdu since essentially adopting trump) and actual fascists. It's a nightmare tbh.

Are you counting BSW as part of the far left?

The right to participate, act, speak out, contribute are what fill a democracy with life. Many of us who may not vote today nevertheless cast our daily ballots for people around us all the time. We contribute to, speak for and enrich society although we may not vote and we will continue to do so 4/4

...You could never tell him he hadn't voted. Like I said, that body ballot. He'd say, 'Yeah I did, I did vote, I just didn't assign responsibility to other people to do things, I accepted responsibility and made sure things got done.' Little bit of a different way of looking at voting isn't it?"3/4

my god, this "package" is such an 80s throwback. All the lessons learned from the just transition discussions right out the window.

Merz ist an almost perfect example of "Extremismus der Mitte", apart from his clear populist tendencies. On top, his most likely candidates for cabinet are even worse. I'd rather not harp on personal traits like impulsivity, bc it's a cheap "out" - he needs to be held to account for his statements
