Tomorrow’s NYT Headline: Could Trump’s Response to Assassination Signal a Pivot to Being a Uniter Rather Than a Divider?
comment in response to post
Some violence will happen. The difference is only one party encourages it and wants it.
comment in response to post
They are going to find someone not being “peaceful” even if they have to make it up. The question is whether you will fall for this and spend the next week hand wringing about it or call it out for what it is.
comment in response to post
You mean it this time?
comment in response to post
That publication is trash now. The article says a majority trust him on immigration but later show 56% disapprove of the tactics. It is a clearly biased article but maybe if those ppl stop with all the pride in their heritage, these folks who don’t want them here will turn around.
comment in response to post
I simply would not use the words of liars and racists as evidence to anything especially when I shared actual numbers proving such.
comment in response to post
I did. I’m sorry it wasn’t what you are looking for. I don’t think I know what ppl think like you, a very serious person with their pulse in the common volk. But hey, maybe if we all lay down and don’t make a sound, Trump won’t hurt us.
comment in response to post
And the latest poll has Trump’s immigration approval at -11. This is a big swing. So what proof do you have the flag waving is hurting them besides a bunch a ppl saying it?
comment in response to post
You have to be basing your opinion on media coverage if you haven’t been there. But I encourage you to go there and offer your expertise. The first thing you can do is guide them in planning spontaneous protests. Lol.
comment in response to post
I am not claiming any expertise here but I know this notion that Americans were in full support of them is a myth perpetuated by our utter lack of dealing with racial issues since.
comment in response to post
But you haven’t participated in the protests or engaged with any of its leaders? You are basing this on media coverage?
comment in response to post
How do you know?
comment in response to post
How do you know these protesters aren’t getting that advice. And you just admitted to being a baby back then so I’m not sure what expertise about the civil rights movement you are drawing from here.
comment in response to post
How do you know they aren’t coordinated?
comment in response to post
And you think there is no coordination and discipline?
comment in response to post
Yeah but too many ppl downplay experience and think outsiders are better. Like this election, it should be case by case.
comment in response to post
And you think ppl were all for this and didn’t criticize them for breaking laws and causing “unrest”? You don’t think you’d be saying “I think segregation is wrong but Black protesters shouldn’t….” If you were around then?
comment in response to post
I think they will find another reason since they probably don’t like immigrants in the first place but know they can’t say that. Know anyone like that?
comment in response to post
But you think it’s fine. It’s those other folks, right?
comment in response to post
Ahh yes, those others. Not you of course.
comment in response to post
What message are the flags sending? Tell me what you think, not what you believe Magas think.
comment in response to post
There were zero electoral repercussions for J6 and zero overall after the election. Italian and Irish folks display those flags all of the time. Ppl need to check their biases and not play Repubs’ games.
comment in response to post
I’m sorry. However reasonable think you are being, you can’t get around the fact if it wasn’t the flags, they’d find something else. You know this and it’s galling saying if people don’t agree with you they are a cult. Especially coming from someone who helped get us here.
comment in response to post
It would totally own Trump if ppl didn’t protest!!!
comment in response to post
How did you fight fascism, gramps? I argued with ppl about violent protesting during mostly peaceful protests. And got off some really great “liberals take dumb college classes” jokes!
comment in response to post
I mean you’re the one complimenting Musk and now you want others to prove that you don’t like Nazis. Maybe you don’t have to hand it to Nazi because you want to get one more zinger in about those crazy libruls.
comment in response to post
What if we don’t care what you think of Bluesky users and how they treat you? What if, hear me out, it’s tired, boring content and no one cares? Nate Silver cares. Go bother him.
comment in response to post
I think your comment comes with the notion that these groups aren’t having these discussions. Do you know that? You have proof they are ignoring this discussion and just telling ppl to do what they want? Have you written about these groups? Interviewed them?
comment in response to post
Idk but I’m pretty sure more people voted for Hilary than Bernie and that’s what ultimately determined who won the primary. You guys would be better served to drop your obsession with the DNC. It really breaks your brains.
comment in response to post
Seems like you missed the point of my sarcasm. I’m fine with good faith criticism odd Dems that doesn’t foolishly play into the hands of MAGA.
comment in response to post
No one thinks like this. Usually metaphors are used to clear up confusion fyi.
comment in response to post
We got a memo.
comment in response to post
Considering what David?
comment in response to post
And the DNC is a specific thing, not all the voters. Nice pivot tho. It’s okay to admit when you are wrong but you’re still worked up about an election years ago so I’ll just let you stew.
comment in response to post
I see you skipped an election and started your data after, umm, which party had the presidency 8 years prior?
comment in response to post
See there. It’s difficult to argue with folks who make things up. Voters, not the DNC, chose. I know it’s hard for you to accept but try to get over it.
comment in response to post
Bernie ran in ‘16 and then undermined the system with Trump by calling it rigged.
comment in response to post
Who was she trying to replace? But you got me. She lost without crying “rigged!!!” tho.
comment in response to post
Did the left did wut?
comment in response to post
Lol. And it’s the left who believes in straw men and losing elections.
comment in response to post
It must be so difficult living in this world having to suffer ppl who disagree with you. And you’ve voted for Dems even!! That’s so fascinating and should make you immune to that criticism. Thoughts and prayers.
comment in response to post
How are you going to be remembered for this moment? Unabashedly in the camp of human rights or getting off your liberals are crazy routine? You decide.

“Most” seems like a stretch.
comment in response to post
He’s so great isn’t he!!! I mean you totally were oppressed and now you are free!!!
comment in response to post
And btw I understand there are some awful people on the left but if you think they are as plentiful and/or as powerful as the trolls, you are simply not a serious person who should be given a platform.
comment in response to post
Please tell me what you’ve learned from right-wing trolls, Megan. That part is always missing from the many posts like this.
comment in response to post
Well If you don’t know, I’m not going to tell you.
comment in response to post
To be fair, I heard “you can’t just be anti-Trump” from people center to hard left.
